Found a cool coffee spot in Porto you’ll want to save. ☕✨🇵🇹

Combi Coffee Roasters is one of those places where the coffee is really the star.

What started in 2014 with an old Mercedes van serving specialty coffee around Porto eventually became a fixed café and roastery — and today they roast their own coffee right here in Porto. ☕🤎

They work with coffee producers and cooperatives from different parts of the world, bringing coffees from places like Brazil, Colombia and Ethiopia to their cafés and customers.

You can stop in for your coffee, grab something sweet or savoury, and even take a bag of their freshly roasted beans home with you.

The original spot is in Bonfim, on Rua Morgado Mateus, and they also have their newer roastery near Serralves.

Porto, Combi Coffee Roasters: a converted garage turned specialty coffee institution ☕

Went looking for "one quiet coffee" on a sunny walk through Porto and somehow ended up doing a full pilgrimage to Bonfim instead, because apparently that's what happens when a coffee shop has been running Porto's specialty scene since before it was cool. Combi started life in 2014 as a converted '75 Mercedes van, then the Cardoso brothers settled into this old garage in 2017 and started roasting their own single-origin beans on-site. It doesn't feel like it's trying to look aesthetic, it just is.

I had:
Flat white (€3.90), latte art sharp enough to feel bad drinking it, served warmer than I expected. Forgot to ask for oat milk, ended up with regular, didn't hate it either way
Açaí bowl, cool and light, exactly what you want after walking every hill in Porto

A coffee shop that started on wheels and now roasts its own beans in a converted garage earns the aesthetic honestly. Would you trust a coffee shop more knowing it started out of a van?

Visiting Porto means stopping for coffee at Combi Coffee Roasters.

Photography makes me appreciate things a bit more.

Allows me to slow down and observe, notice:
The light hitting the table.
The barista immerse in his craft.
Talk to a lady from thousand miles away and laughing like we knew from before.
Identifying shapes and lights that normally can pass through without being notice.

Next time you take a coffee, take a second to appreciate it.

The day at Combi Bomfim begins early, slowly and quietly.
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee fills the air as the team arrives, one by one.
The first customers walk through the door, and before long, the whole place comes alive with the warm energy and genuine hospitality.
