When I learned about my attachment style, I cried real tears.

Not because of the relationships I lost… but because I finally understood the version of me who didn’t know better.

Healing my attachment helped me stop blaming myself, stop blaming others, and start growing.

10 years of walking with Jesus. 🥹🥹

And man, if there’s one thing I’ve learned over these last 10 years, it’s just how gracious, patient, merciful, and loving God truly is.

When I think about the 21 years He patiently pursued my heart before I surrendered my life to Him, and now the 10 years I’ve had the privilege of walking with Him, both speak so deeply of His love for me.

His patience before my yes and His faithfulness after my yes. What a beautiful picture of His love.

I am forever grateful that He never gave up on me, and I’m still learning to extend that same grace, patience, and love to others.

Cheers to 10 years with Jesus and here’s to a lifetime of knowing Him more deeply. by @comelikeachild

Humility isn’t about shrinking yourself or thinking less of yourself. It’s about thinking accurately about yourself….seeing yourself through the lens of God’s grace, not pride or insecurity.

“Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment.”

—Romans 12:3

Ashley Minor is on the Saltworks this week, and as always she is just a delight. Today we are finally getting to sit down and talk all about Ashley’s debut book Aisle 29: Where Heaven Met My Hurry. Well acquainted with waiting seasons, Ashley shares with us her story of finding herself in a place she didn’t expect to be, wondering what the purpose was. We talk about her time at Walmart and how what felt forgotten really prompted her purpose– writing her book for the world to read. Ashley goes into breaking down different places we can be in our waiting, the lies we can feel tempted to believe here, and what’s actually true in each. by @comelikeachild

I used to think preparing for the God dream was mostly about what I needed to build or accomplish. But God has shown me that preparation is also about what I’m carrying into it.

Over the past few years, He’s brought healing to places I didn’t even realize needed it, showing me why I responded certain ways, why some environments triggered me, and what needed to change in my heart.

And now I see that none of that work was wasted.

God wasn’t just preparing the opportunity. He was preparing me to carry it with a clean heart, a clear mind, and a refreshed attitude.

Before we rush into the dream, maybe the prayer is:
“Lord, what in me needs to be healed, surrendered, or renewed before I step into what You’re giving me?”

A lot of the frustration we feel comes from watching what everyone else is doing and wondering why our lives don’t look the same.

But what God has called someone else to may be good for them and still not be what He’s calling you to.

Isaiah 60:22 says, “At the right time, I, the Lord, will make it happen.”

Not in my timing.
Not when it feels impressive.
Not when everyone else seems ahead.
In His timing.

Your job is to be faithful with what God has placed in front of you. And yes, sometimes we have to be honest with ourselves too, if God has already given us the resources, access, and opportunity, but we refuse to move, that may not be waiting. That may just be disobedience dressed up as waiting.

Stop measuring your assignment against somebody else’s.

Focus on what God has called YOU to do.

Sometimes we’re so ready to build the thing God put in our hearts that we forget to ask Him what needs to be built in us first.

Before the launch, before the growth, before the “big thing”, there may be heart work, mindset work, healing, discipline, or character work that God wants to do in you.

Because you can build the dream and still not be ready to carry it.

I had this thought: sometimes we are so focused on receiving the promise, while God is focused on preparing us to sustain it.

We pray for the thing. We believe for the thing. We wait for the thing. And because we know we’re called to it, we can become so consumed with when it will finally arrive.

But maybe part of the mystery of waiting is realizing that the waiting is not empty space between the promise and the fulfillment. The waiting is part of the fulfillment.

Because receiving something and being able to carry it well are two different things.

You may be called to the marriage, the ministry, the opportunity, the platform, the family, the business, the next season, but God cares about more than simply getting you there. He is strengthening your character, deepening your roots, healing what needs to be healed, and teaching you how to steward what you’ve been praying for.

We think about receiving.
God thinks about sustaining.

Maybe the delay isn’t always about whether the promise is coming. Maybe God is preparing you to carry what He gives you without losing yourself once you have it.

So don’t despise what God is developing in you while you wait. The person you are becoming may be just as much a part of the answered prayer as the thing you’ve been asking Him for.

Wait well, my friends ❤️ by @comelikeachild

Working at Walmart taught me something simple: be patient with people.

Sometimes what feels obvious to you isn’t obvious to someone else. A little kindness goes a long way, especially when someone is simply asking for help.
