✨ Big news for our community! ✨

We are officially in-network with Anthem/BCBS Virginia for IBCLC care — something we are incredibly proud and excited to share! 🎉💙

We also want to be fully transparent as we navigate this new chapter together.

Because every Anthem/BCBS plan is different, we are still in the thick of learning and understanding reimbursement rates. While we have already begun seeing reimbursements come back (and we’re feeling very hopeful!), we can’t yet guarantee a specific coverage amount for every family.

👉 What this means right now:
• In-home IBCLC consultations are charged at the full upfront rate. Once we receive reimbursement from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Virginia, we will reimburse you accordingly.
• We are also offering in-office IBCLC consultations with no upfront cost at Bitty Bites Pediatric Dentistry as a flexible option while we gather more data.

Our hope is that over the next several weeks, as reimbursement patterns become clearer, we’ll be able to transition to no upfront cost and direct insurance billing for all IBCLC visits 🤍

This milestone did not happen in isolation. It was made possible by the advocacy and support of our community back in September, and we are endlessly grateful. This is a remarkable breakthrough — not just for us, but for families seeking accessible lactation care in Virginia🤱🏽

Thank you for your patience, trust, and encouragement as we continue to navigate what this looks like for us and for you over the coming months❤️

A little behind-the-scenes meeting with our favorite behind-the-scenes girl💛

Our girl, Kasey, the friendly face (and voice!) behind so many of your texts, emails, and scheduling before you meet with one of our IBCLCs!

We met today to talk about expanding her role with Coming Home, and we truly couldn’t be more excited. 🫶 She already does so much to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes, and we’re so excited for her to step into this next chapter with us.

We’re pretty lucky to have her. 💗 taken in Richmond, Virginia by @cominghomerva

✨World Breastfeeding Week✨

Sharing another incredible story from a momma who worked HARD and is now on the path to help others🥹❤️

“I’m a first time mom who went into postpartum thinking if I was able to breastfeed I would and no sweat if I needed to formula feed. Kelsey had met with me for an initial intake about 5 weeks before my due date and went over the basics. Of course I remembered exactly none of that at birth, and by the time she came when we got home, I was an absolute wreck. We were discharged on a Friday night, and the first 24 hours home from the hospital sent me into a spiral when a pediatrician told me I was starving my baby and needed to supplement. I refused. It became this mental block that took me months to work through, convinced my body was failing my daughter and refusing to allow myself any other alternative. Kelsey answered every question. She eased every fear. She listened to me sound absolutely insane about my oversupply being an undersupply, because I had convinced myself my body wasn’t doing enough. She calmed me down in ways no one else could get through to me. She was available when I needed her. She walked me through two bouts of mastitis. She celebrated the wins with me and encouraged me through the lows. She never once made me feel crazy when I questioned if my daughter had a lip or tongue tie that could be making nursing so difficult for both of us(surprise, she had both!). She validated my feelings and helped connect me with the resources I needed to have that addressed. Because of the support I received with Coming Home, I am still successfully breastfeeding 16 months later. It has made me want to become an IBCLC to support other moms who are suffering with postpartum anxiety tied to breastfeeding that don’t know how to ask for help- and I am returning to L&D this fall to pursue that. I truly sing this teams praises to anyone who will listen. What a blessing for Richmond area moms to have women in their corner, who can meet them where they are and ease the burden. I am so, so grateful for it.” taken in Richmond, Virginia by @cominghomerva

Celebrating ✨World Breastfeeding Week✨ with REAL stories from YOU!! Check out this incredible mamma😍

“Anytime, anywhere! Shout out nursing tops for letting me nurse on the go. ✨ Happy World Breastfeeding Week! ✨

Every breastfeeding journey is different, and every family deserves to feel supported, encouraged, and cared for along the way. Whether you’re getting ready to meet your baby, celebrating a great feeding, working through challenges, or just taking it one feed at a time, we’re cheering you on.

At Coming Home, we believe no family should have to figure it all out alone. That’s why our team is made up of four experienced RNs and IBCLCs who are also moms. We’ve been in the trenches ourselves, and we know firsthand that breastfeeding can be beautiful, hard, emotional, rewarding, and everything in between.

Our passion is providing compassionate, evidence-based care while walking alongside families every step of the way. And we’ll keep advocating for better access to lactation support because every parent deserves the chance to reach their feeding goals with a village behind them.

This week, we’re celebrating every family, every feeding, and every ounce of love that goes into caring for your baby. Thank you for letting us be part of your journey💛

Over 200 visits. One incredible month. 🤍

June was our busiest month yet, with 200 in-home visits completed by the Coming Home RVA team.

Some days were long. Some days meant driving from one end of Richmond to the other, squeezing in one more family before heading home, and answering messages well into the evening.

And yet… we wouldn’t trade it for anything.

There is something incredibly special about being welcomed into your homes during one of the most vulnerable and transformative seasons of life. Whether we’re helping with a first latch, navigating pumping, supporting bottle feeding, working through feeding challenges, or simply reassuring a new parent that they’re doing a wonderful job, each visit reminds us exactly why we do this work.

Helping so many families each month truly fills our hearts. It is a privilege we never take for granted.

To every family who trusted us with your care…thank you. Thank you for inviting us into your homes, for allowing us to celebrate your victories, work through your challenges, and walk alongside you in your journey.

And to our incredible team… thank you for the compassion, expertise, and heart you bring to every single visit.

Here’s to continuing to support one family at a time. 🫶🏻 by @cominghomerva

A little heads up from our Coming Home RVA family 🤍

Over the next couple of weeks, you may notice a little longer wait time for appointments than usual.

Several members of our team are taking some well-deserved vacation time with their families. While we do our best to stagger schedules and continue caring for the families who need us, our appointment availability is a bit more limited during this time.

We know feeding challenges don’t always happen on a convenient schedule, and we’re so grateful for your patience and understanding as we work to support every family as quickly as we can.

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to care for your families while also giving our team the time to rest, recharge, and make memories with their own loved ones. We truly believe that taking care of ourselves helps us continue showing up as the best providers we can be for you.

Thank you, as always, for your trust and support. We can’t wait to continue caring for you this summer! ☀️ by @cominghomerva

💙 Have Anthem or Blue Cross Blue Shield of Virginia? Verify your lactation benefits!

We are in-network with Anthem/BCBS Virginia, but coverage can vary by plan. Before your visit, we encourage you to call your insurance provider to verify your lactation benefits.

When you call, ask if your plan covers lactation services with one of our providers:
• Kelsey Carroll
• Katie Skaggs
• Savannah Bernard
• Hannah Robertson

While you’re on the phone, be sure to ask:
✨ Does my plan require me to meet a deductible?
✨ Will I have a copay or coinsurance for these services?

📞 We also recommend writing down the reference number from your call in case you need it later.

The good news? The majority of our Anthem/BCBS Virginia clients have little to no out-of-pocket cost for their visits. Every plan is different, so verifying your benefits is the best way to understand your coverage.

Questions or ready to schedule? Email us at info@cominghomerva.com or use the link in our bio to send us a message. We’d love to support you on your breastfeeding journey. 💙 by @cominghomerva
