Introducing Forever Stories ✨ The next era for First Nations Bedtime Stories 🧡

After many yarns with community and feedback from teachers over the years, we’ve decided to shift away from the word “bedtime” to acknowledge the depth and importance of these stories. They aren’t just stories for entertainment but are vessels for carrying the oldest knowledge and legal systems on Earth.

While the name has evolved, the heart of the project remains the same: Forever Stories puts production budgets directly into the hands of First Nations filmmakers to shoot on Country, with community, on their own terms.

Less than six weeks until the new series of First Nations Bedtime Stories 🧡 Here’s a look at the first five years to get excited for next edition of five stories over five days from 9–13 November ✨

We’re excited to continue the legacy of this important project, which already includes stories from Noongar, Wiradjuri, Nyikina, Arrernte, Eastern Arrernte, Luritja, Warlpiri and Pitjantjatjara Nations.

Stories and resources from the first five years are available to explore for free before our new series launches in November – remember to save the date.

Dreamy Language Edition Learning Kit 💙 Connect with stories featuring Kuku Yalanji, palawa kani, Gumbaynggirr and Woiwurrung ✨

In collaboration with First Nations educators Harmony Domaille and Clea North we’re excited to have launched our third Dreamy Learning Kit for the latest Dreamy series which centers and celebrates language.

The Learning Kit is designed for deep learning both in and out of the classroom by students, teachers, practitioners and families and features:

💙 Cultural Connection Cards
💙 Maps with Nation and/or language group of each story
💙 Learning Guides with activities
💙 Activity Sheets
💙 Dreamy story transcripts

The learning kit links to the F-6 (Primary School) Australian Curriculum with stories mapped to a specific year level and learning area, that can be adapted to suit any age, learning style or ability.

DREAMY: Language Edition ✨ Listen to and celebrate the power of our languages with this new series which features four languages:

For more than 80,000 years, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander languages have carried knowledge of the stars, the land, and everything in between.

Recording and revitalising these languages for future generations is vital. When language is spoken, it keeps the spirit of Country and our communities strong.

Growing up in Waterloo and Redfern in the 1990s, Matt Coe witnessed the devastating impacts of police brutality from a young age. A violent encounter with police changed the course of his life, leaving him carrying anger, fear and deep distrust for many years.

Yet today, Matt is leading intergenerational healing, as the co-founder of Wildflower (@Wildflower_CountryAndCommunity), caring for Country and empowering the local community in the restoration of native landscapes.

Every death in custody leaves a family carrying unimaginable loss.

For the Mason family, that loss has been compounded by years of unanswered questions and denied accountability. In their testimony, Darlene Mason, Deidre Murray and Mark Mason Jnr reflect on the police’s erasure of the moments leading to the fatal shooting of Mark Mason Snr and the profound absence left by his death.

Their ongoing quest for justice reminds us that every family deserves truth, and Australians deserve a commitment from our governments to ensure that no other family endures this.
