Happy Friday gents! Take care of each other for docs sake and while we’re on the topic… my dog.. that stripper does not love you. Stop tryna to take her away. I’m tired of helping you get your BAH just to see you move back to the barracks the next month. Shes out there for sure, but she doesn’t work at cheetahs 😩

Also… It’s cool to take pictures with your homies. Don’t be the too cool guy.

Send me some funny pics/videos and I’ll post em. Otherwise, see you Monday morning at medical to get that bump checked out.

Some cable boys in the wild. Good shit @davidnadeau

I’ve been out of the country for a while now but we so back. Send in those comm pics and I’ll post em. Side note, I’m still figuring out the logistics of some kind of semi regular contest, but when I do this is a top contender for sure.

SCENARIO:

It’s almost the weekend. You and the homies busted your ass all week. You’re now looking forward to cracking some well deserved cold ones with the boys… wait.. what’s that? ā€œSIPR is downā€ ā€œAlso 1stSgt is looking for you, he looks kind of pissedā€

What’s your next course of action?

Side note:

1. In the spirit of friendly competition comms up will start holding a semi regular contest. Send me your best (or worst) setups, videos, or really whatever you want (DO NOT SEND ANYTHING YOU SHOULDN’T BE TAKING A PICTURE OF!!!). At the end of the judging period winners will be chosen, a trophy will be made, and you will have bragging rights over the poor souls who failed to get comms up.
2. Individual award - if you have a Marine/solider/airmen…seaman? who deserves recognition please send me a DM with info and why they should be 0600 of the month. They will receive something cool.

Page will be out of commission for the next month but will be back big in 2025. Until then, keep those skills sharp.

Homesick for a time that no longer exists.

ā€œThe mistake you made is thinking that there is still hope. The only hope you have is to accept the fact that you’re already dead. The sooner you accept that, the sooner you’ll be able to function as a soldier is supposed to function: without mercy, without compassion, without remorse. All war depends upon it.ā€ by @comms_____up

Another one from the resident USAF Cable DAWGS! Two 120 footers up. Good shit @t_roy01040

Here’s your weekly reminder. Get out there and better yourself. If there is something you know you could be more efficient with - at a personal or organizational level - get out there and fix that shit. Do not get complacent. If you feel like you’re an expert, good, get out there and make everyone around you an expert, cross train, come up with more effective ways of doing things.

Our job is to enable and at the end of the day, the mission is to destroy the enemy. Do not forget that.

From the DMs - a beautiful field expedient Christmas tree complete with the traditional tree topper šŸŽ„

Send in those Christmas pics and I’ll post em.

Side note, for those of you unable to go home this holiday season or just feeling alone: FaceTime your boys, get together with others and make a tree, exchange jalapeño and cheese over a game of spades.

Pfc Vito R. Bertoldo - Medal of Honor - Hatten, France

ā€œOperation Northwind was the last major German offensive of World War II on the Western Front. Northwind was launched to support the German Ardennes offensive campaign in the Battle of the Bulge, which by late December 1944 had decisively turned against the German forces. It began on 31 December 1944 in Rhineland-Palatinate, Alsace and Lorraine in southwestern Germany and northeastern France. By 21 December 1944, the German momentum during the Battle of the Bulge had begun to dissipate, and it was evident that the operation was on the brink of failure. It was believed that an attack against the United States Seventh Army further south, which had extended its lines and taken on a defensive posture to cover the area vacated by the United States Third Army (which turned north to assist at the site of the German breakthrough), could relieve pressure on German forces in the Ardennes. In a briefing at his military command complex at Adlerhorst, [H7tler] declared in his speech to his division commanders on 28 December 1944, ā€œThis attack has a very clear objective, namely the destruction of the enemy forces. There is not a matter of prestige involved here. It is a matter of destroying and exterminating the enemy forces wherever we find them.ā€

ā€œā€¦ veteran panzergrenadiers accompanied by Panther tanks and assault guns began advancing house to house against 1/242’s remaining defenders. But army clerks, radiomen, and staff officers fought furiously to blunt the enemy’s advance. One GI, a nearsighted cook named Pfc. Vito R. Bertoldo, became an unlikely hero when he almost singlehandedly held off an afternoon attack on the battalion CP.ā€

Citation ——- part 1

ā€œHe fought with extreme gallantry while guarding two command posts against the assault of powerful infantry and armored forces which had overrun the battalion’s main line of resistance. On the close approach of enemy soldiers, he left the protection of the building he defended and set up his gun in the street, there to remain for almost 12 hours driving back attacks while in full view of his adversaries…
