Join us for the next conversation in the CLF's Monthly Conversations on Abolition CSAI series. October 20, 2026 at 6 p.m. Link in QR code and bio!

Police violence is surging under Christian nationalist control, and the Bible is being weaponized to justify ICE raids, concentration camps, kidnapping and killings. None of this is new. Conor's book explains how the Bible has shaped the history of U.S. policing and brings us to the present, offering an analysis of a deadly and dangerous moment, and offering an abolitionist counter-reading of the Bible as a means of undermining fascist moral and theological claims. by @communitychurchny

“We live in capitalism. Its power seems inescapable. So did the divine right of kings. Any human power can be resisted and changed by human beings. Resistance and change often begin in art, and very often in our art, the art of words.” - Ursula K. Le Guin

This Sunday, October 18, Conor Foley leads a service titled "The Artist Must Make War".

We meet for worship in person inside the Church of the Incarnation at 209 Madison Ave. Service begins at 2:00 PM Eastern time. All services are also streamed live on Facebook and YouTube. See our website for more details and to access the digital order of service! by @communitychurchny

Now is the time to support the People's Forum!

Since April 2025, Trump allies in Congress and the Senate have singled out our friends at the People’s Forum for political and legal attacks, citing their mobilization against the war with Iran, the genocide in Gaza, ICE kidnappings and killings, and the blockade on Cuba as evidence of "left-wing terrorism."

In July, the House Ways and Means Committee subpoenaed their internal communications, records, and finances. They are fighting back against this attack on their First Amendment rights - but this month, the Committee is escalating their attacks and continuing their crusade to shut down this important movement and organizing hub.

This is a test for all of us. We refuse to let this challenge to our rights to political speech and freedom of expression go unmet. We stand by the People's Forum and hope you will, too. You can donate to their fundraising efforts alongside the Community Church of New York at ccny.org/tpf or visit peoplesforum.org. by @communitychurchny

Statement from our Senior Minister, Rev. Peggy Clarke, on ICE and their shooting of Oscar Belgal in the Bronx on Thursday:

On Thursday afternoon, while the streets were busy with commuters and children returning from school, ICE agents fired seven bullets into a moving car. Oscar Belgal, 28, was driving, and his 5 year old son was in the back seat. The car crashed into a concrete barrier when Oscar was shot in the neck while his traumatized son watched, crying.

There isn’t enough outrage, there aren’t enough tears, to match the level of depravity our federal government is inflicting on our communities. The Nazis had Brownshirts, Fascist Italy had Blackshirts, Sudan has Janjaweed, Iran has Basij, China had the Red Guard, and we have ICE. These organized paramilitary forces around the globe and through history have been organized for the sole purpose of terrorizing residents to suppress political opposition. Hiding behind the dubious justification of “law enforcement” ICE is a political terror squad designed to intimidate and reinforce the depraved concept of white supremacy.

Community Church of New York stands in full opposition to both the violence perpetuated by this state-sponsored militia and to their existence in total. The fabricated crisis of mass immigration does not warrant roving death squads. Criminal charges must be brought against each perpetrator, every person held captive in “detention centers” must be released, and ICE must be dismantled. Without these immediate actions, there is no justice, and without justice, there will never be peace. taken in New York City by @communitychurchny

"More Waters Rising" was written by Saro Lynch-Thomason in 2016, after the HB2 "bathroom bill" was passed in North Carolina, one of many pieces of legislation that have restricted the rights of trans people in this country over the past several years. Here, Music Director @darnellwhitemusic reflects on the @poddbrothers arrangement that our choir sings, and what the song means to him as a symbol of resilience for all people facing down against powers that attempt to drown them out. We will walk through the fires and rebuild the mountains, together ❤️
