Every chance we had to do something by hand on The Donn of Tiki, we took it. In the age of overused digital effects and AI, it was important to us that we filmed actual objects instead of showing the audience pictures of what the documentary was talking about.

Shout out to @midcenturymaurer and @gdwarren of @commuterind who brought our film to life with their production design. Donn’s world needed to be physical, and they helped us make that dream a reality. by @commuterind

AT EASE BREWING CO.
Branding + Merchandise

Project: For @ateasebrewingco 's 7th anniversary, we developed a celebratory sub-brand identity centered around a bold black-and-gold palette and a custom “7” monogram constructed from simple stencil-inspired forms. Digital designs included social media content and banners and in-house POS graphics.

Alongside the anniversary campaign, At Ease introduced a special art-focused edition of their flagship beer, Presidio—named after the historic Army outpost turned National Park in San Francisco. Starting from a concept sketch by At Ease team member @coopervalencia , we refined and translated the artwork into a polished vector illustration featuring the Presidio’s mission-style architecture framed by the iconic Golden Gate Bridge. The limited first release of 1,000 collectible cans establishes a new template for future illustrated label editions tied to each unique beer release. Those who buy the 4-pack of the collector can also receive one of our custom stickers featuring a comic book style illustration of the brewery.

To connect the collectible can to the anniversary celebration, the essence of the can artwork was distilled into a minimal graphic treatment printed in metallic gold ink on black apparel. To round out the anniversary experience, the brewery’s signature pint glass was updated with our design imprinted in a limited-edition reflective gold (normally green).

GREEN LADY COCKTAIL ROOM
Merchandise Design

Project: Design a custom old fashioned glass for a tropical speakeasy style cocktail bar tucked away inside the White Sands Hotel in Waikiki. Amidst the allure of secrecy that envelopes this hidden gem lies a spot of mixological brilliance and inventive artistry.

Our role was to develop an iconic signature glass that evokes the intimate, lush, and mysterious mood of the interior. Our original illustrations capture various elements of the bar, and offer an inspired interpretation of Vladimir Tretchikoff’s 1952 Chinese Girl (or Green Lady) painting. The 4-color design features variegated green tones and a “kiss” of vibrant scarlet for dramatic contrast.

Slink into @whitesandshotel and ask for ‘Room 8’ to get your own @greenladycocktailroom glass while supplies last.

KŌ HANA DISTILLERS
Packaging

Project: Design carton packaging for Kō Hana Distillers’ ready-to-drink (RTD) premium cocktail line.

Our colorful, branded box designs feature hand drawn sugar cane, bark cloth textures, and watercolor style bottle illustrations with spot varnish coating. We were tasked with designing:

3-pack pre-set box, which includes a 375 mL mai tai, pineapple daiquiri, and lilikoi daiquiri

3-pack “build your own” variety box

4-pack mini variety box (4 oz. bottles available in-flight on Hawaiian Airlines)

To promote the launch of these products, an in-store sampling and sale toured Hawai‘i Costco locations. Our Kō Hana packaging and merchandise can also be seen regularly on HI Now Daily as part of their Aloha Friday / Pau Hana series.

HIDDEN LAKES
Complete Home Interior Design

Without a doubt, the greatest reward for what we do is the lasting relationships we build with the homeowners who hire us. Family is at the center of this redesign, and we’re forever grateful to be a part of it.

Built in 1979, this large custom tudor style home sits on an expansive lot overlooking a lake in a well-established, picturesque neighborhood.

The original design was undeniably stamped with the trends of the time, replete with dark stained woods, overly ornate fixtures, stained glass, awkwardly enclosed and sectioned-off spaces, a cramped kitchen, a compact family room, and a gigantic, imposing staircase that claimed most of the real estate in the entry and great room.

Our design reimagines the entire downstairs level into a bright, modern, low-maintenance space that fit the family’s unique aesthetic and bustling lifestyle, with plenty room for family entertaining and large gatherings.

Some of our favorite and most impactful features are the modern stringer staircase, continuous-flowing spaces, custom Flemish glass room divider, spacious chef’s kitchen, and bold use of color through tile and textiles.

LAKELAND INTERIOR
En Suite Design

Faced with a series of obtrusive walls and awkward angles of the late-1980s, we stripped this en suite bathroom down to its studs for a completely reimagined, highly functional spa retreat.

Our goal was to organize and reimagine the space in a way that felt spacious, light and airy, and easily navigable with an intuitive flow. To accomplish this, we adopted a clean and modern aesthetic with Scandinavian influences.

Take a deep dive into this project, and the challenges we faced. Best of all, a BEFORE and AFTER visualizer on the website. Link in bio.

CALKIN PUBLIC AFFAIRS
Brand Development

Calkin is a public affairs firm based in Sacramento, CA. Launched in 2024 by Kelly Calkin, the firm needed an eye-catching and sleek brand that feels current and edgy, yet polished and timeless. Bold and moody photography, a chunky wedge serif, monoline wave patterns, a punchy yellow accent color inspired by the California poppy, and more, all combine to create a plugged-in vibe of urgency that matches the firm’s fast-moving culture and industry. The logo features a hidden open quotation mark within the letter “a” that speaks to the firm’s guiding principals of communication craft and its open invitation to start a conversation.

DELIVERABLES: Logo, color palette, business cards, envelope, letterhead, buckslip, shipping label, infographics, brand pattern, proposal template, fact sheets, ads, email signatures, eblast header, banner art for social platforms, and a website with custom supplemental graphics and photo editing.

WARD 31
Merchandise Design

Al Boudreau (@carpentiki) is an experienced woodworker and lamp maker, specializing in custom frames and Polynesian-inspired, vintage style lamps. His home bar is a truly inspired space that showcases his work and collaborations with fellow artist, Gecko’z South Sea Arts.

Our artwork is a fantastical landscape of the Wai‘anae Range connected by steep stair trails and rope bridges, which illustrates the journey to the bar on the island’s leeward side. Eclectic decor from the bar including, totem carvings, glass floats, and of course, custom lamps, surround the rugged terrain. We also created a custom logo extension as a single color base imprint.

This limited run of glassware was designed in two colorways: teal and red-orange with dark brown and frost etched details. For a limited time, you can get them from @carpentiki via his eBay store (2002collect).

And, we’re live! Our collection of new Exotica recordings are now all released, ready to join your hifi systems, cocktail parties, and social events. With a special thank you to our friends at the Halekulani, and our extended ‘ohana, we are pleased to present both our studio (Caves of the Sea) and live-in-concert (Enchantment Under the Kiawe Tree) recordings for your listening & collecting pleasure.

These are OUR first full-length recordings in nearly 15 years, through which our musicians have each grown and prospered in their respective musical fields. Tim embraced a love for composing and arranging (his work reflected in his original, “Cave of the Tarpon,” and multiple arrangements, including those featuring string quartet). Abe and Lopaka, already highly respected and first-call players in Hawaiʻi, built fans across the Pacific Rim. Helen won a coveted, tenured violin position in the Hawaiʻi Symphony Orchestra and leads the Galliard String Quartet (who joins us on several tracks). Jim became Principal Timpanist of the Seattle Symphony and now Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Zaccai’s study and performance of Cuban jazz, inspired by his work with Eddie Palmieri, was recognized and celebrated with a GRAMMY win for his album (with brother Luques), “Cubop Lives.” And Randy leads Hawaiʻi Youth Symphony as its President & CEO, a nonprofit he and Abe both benefited from as young musicians. Together, with our cultural & musical literacies combined, we bring our dedication and passion back to Exotica and our group, The WAITIKI 7.

In the 1955+ era and now the 2025+, Exotica is music by and of the communities its musicians represent. A multicultural, musical interpretation of faraway lands (as Randy says, “indigenous only to the escapist constructs in our minds”), the creativity and imagination of Exotica is needed in today’s world more than ever. We thank and celebrate the composers and musicians who set the groundwork and defined the genre over the last 60 years, and all who have been part of our story thus far. 🙏

HEYDAY
Merchandise Design

Project: Design a custom zombie glass for an open air bar and restaurant in the center of Waikiki. @heydayhawaii serves up tropical cocktails and island-inspired dishes in a playful setting with vintage charm.

We were tasked with capturing the vintage flair and poolside vibes of Heyday by illustrating various elements from around the @whitesandshotel venue. The iconic swing set bar (O’ahu’s one and only) is flanked by illustrations of a Lono tiki carving, swaying cocoa palms, lush tropical plants, imbibing petroglyph-style patrons, and bronzed pool guests under a blazing sun. The dark teal, aqua, antique gold, and frost etch color scheme pays homage to the 1960s aesthetic of the hotel and bar.

Swing into Heyday to take home a zombie glass of your own while supplies last.

THE WAITIKI 7
Album Design

Project: Design a vinyl album package for Enchantment Under the Kiawe Tree by The Waitiki 7. This live album was recorded during two electrifying performances in May 2024 at the legendary Halekulani on the beach in Waikiki.

Our role was to design an album package that captured the legacy of the exotica music genre in Hawaiʻi with a nod to both past and present. We sifted through an extensive collection of vintage Halekulani ephemera for inspiration, much of which revolved around the iconic 130+ year old kiawe tree on the hotel property. This tree has been the backdrop for many notable exotica performances from the early 1950s to today, including Martin Denny, Arthur Lyman, Alice Fredlund Serenaders (The Halekulani Girls), Bill Kaiwa, The Kahauanu Lake Trio, and of course, The Waitiki 7.

The 180g vinyl album was pressed with an aqua-black translucent color blend. Every pressing is unique, and when held to light, ocean wave patterns representing the Pacific can be seen.
