We’re Phil and Iain, the people behind Complete Building Solutions.

We met as fellow tradesmen and became friends before starting CBS. We shared the same approach to building: do the job properly, work closely with the client and take pride in the finish.

Originally from Barnstaple, Phil developed an interest in carpentry through making things with his grandad as a child. He later trained at Pearce Construction before gaining experience with local builders across the South West.

Iain is Braunton born and bred. His family’s roofing business introduced him to construction before he qualified in carpentry and joinery and developed his experience working with established local builders.

Today, we bring that experience together on bespoke builds, extensions and renovations across North Devon.

We know that choosing a builder is a big decision. Working with us means a personal approach, clear communication and attention to detail throughout your project. We want you to feel comfortable asking questions and confident in how the work is progressing.

If you have a project in mind, we’d be pleased to hear your plans and talk through what’s possible. by @completebuildingsolutionsltd

Look closer: the floor that connects the home.

At Sticklepath, herringbone flooring carries through the living, kitchen and dining spaces. The changing direction of the pattern gives the surface its character; the consistent finish helps the rooms feel connected.

These quieter choices matter just as much as the wider reveal. Swipe from the living space to the kitchen and dining area.

Would you carry one floor throughout, or give each room its own finish?

From conservatory to connected living.

Sticklepath, Barnstaple — the finished reveal.

If you've followed the roof and structural work, this is what it was all leading to: a kitchen, dining and living space brought together, with daylight from above and doors opening onto the terrace.

The details tie it together — herringbone flooring through the room, carefully fitted cabinetry, glass pendants over the island and crisp openings between the spaces.

Swipe to see where we started, the work in between and the finished home.

A different outlook.

Garden doors at Sticklepath. A glazed gable at Woolacombe. A traditional bay, a new entrance and an oak-framed garden room from our project archive.

Doors and windows shape how a home looks, how the light falls and how you move between inside and out. Different homes call for different approaches.

Swipe through a few of the installations we have worked on. Which would make the biggest difference to your home?

The work behind the view.

Seaview, Lee, North Devon. A substantial extension and alterations project, shown from the original house and excavation through foundations, suspended flooring, masonry and roof construction to the later interiors and terrace.

The transformation is in the rooms you enjoy. The care begins long before you can see the finish.

These photographs follow the build at different stages; landscaping and some finishing work were still under way in the exterior progress shots.
