We were delighted to welcome @courtenaybrady and Cathy from @performerscollege , who delivered an inspiring session for our dance college students.

Our students had the opportunity to experience a taste of what training at Performers College is like, taking part in an MT Jazz class before enjoying a Q&A session, where they could gain valuable insight into life in further professional training and the opportunities available to them as aspiring performers.

A huge thank you to Courtenay and Cathy for sharing their knowledge, experience and passion with our students. It was a wonderful opportunity to inspire the next generation of performers! taken in Complete Dance Studios by @completedancestudios

THINKING ABOUT JOINING THE ACADEMY?
THERE IS STILL TIME!

We know that for some families, September wasn’t quite the right time to make the move. Perhaps you wanted to settle into a new school year first, or simply needed a little more time to explore whether The Academy was the right next step.

Well, the good news is you haven’t missed your opportunity!

We welcome applications and hold auditions throughout the year, with successful students joining us at the start of each new term. This allows everyone to become part of our carefully structured training programme at a natural entry point.

We’re also delighted to now be working alongside 9 local schools, supporting students who combine their mainstream education with specialist performing arts training every Thursday.

And if the idea of arranging flexi-schooling feels a little daunting, please don’t worry! We’re here to help. We can guide families through the application process, provide supporting documentation and work directly with schools to help explore what’s possible.

So, if you’re aged 8–16, love performing and feel ready to take your training to the next level, we’d love to hear from you!

Auditions are now open for our next termly intake!

Get in touch to find out more and take the first step towards joining The Academy at CDS

SOMETHING NEW IS COMING THIS CHRISTMAS…

Introducing MTE x CDS!

After 10 years of creating musicals, workshops, performance projects and original music across Essex, Music Theatre Essex is beginning an exciting new chapter in collaboration with Complete Dance Studios.

Two performing arts communities.
One shared passion for creating brilliant opportunities for young performers.
And LOTS of exciting plans ahead.

So, what better way to launch MTE x CDS than with one of our absolute favourite traditions…

THE MTE CHRISTMAS SONG PROJECT!

Every year since 2019, MTE has written a completely ORIGINAL Christmas song for our young performers and musicians. We rehearse it, record it, film a full music video and then release the finished track across all major streaming platforms — with our songs even making their way onto radio stations across Essex and beyond!

And this year, for the very first time, we’re bringing the MTE and CDS families together.

We’ll be taking over CDS’s fantastic facilities in Witham, transforming the space for recording and filming, and welcoming MTE members, CDS students AND new faces to create our biggest Christmas collaboration yet.

PERFORMERS
Ages 6–19

MUSICIANS
Young musicians working at approximately Grade 6 standard+ can also join the project and help us record the track.

You don’t need to already be part of MTE or CDS to get involved — new performers and musicians are very welcome!

New collaboration.
New home.
New Christmas song.

Same MTE madness.
