Thank you @burningman for stellar placement.
800' from the man is an honor.

Thank you Annabelle, Peter P, Not Amused, Quest, Maria, Benjamin. The Artery and Artist Support Services are my lifeline. You guys are the unsung heroes.

Thank you Zoia Amadi for being locked in for two years. Our architect is the foundation of our visual communication.

Thank you Jerry Wagley for fabricating my EXACT core pipe design. You're the reason people ask if anything was CNCd. (It wasn't. Have you seen our custom flanges?!)

Thank you Revae Huyette for structural engineering and ease of decision making. Now I can transport this piece myself with a box truck!

Thank you to the goats Dana Albany & Haideen Anderson for being my metal working mentors. For giving me a solid 7 days of uninterrupted fabrication and reminding me I'm actually good* at this. PRICELESS

Thank you Zulu Heru for clearing hurdles and workshopping the entire team. You carry the strength of ten in one.

Thank you Candace Locklear for opening your home to me as your first Artist in Residence. For teaching me how to fish, not just giving me fish. For the Clown Hole and all its wisdom.

Thank you Jen Randle for starting this conversation in 2023, getting me to the Bay, building a camp to support my crew, introducing me to Five Ton Crane and introducing me to the Boxshop! Since the moment I started working there... I met everyone I needed and finally had the space to expand.

Thank you Julia Cortell for looking me in the eyes to say I could raise $30k without a grant. That conversation in 2023 is the reason I believed it was possible.

Thank you Ariel Sutro for saving artists from ruins... time and time again. Whether a functional need or a lesson in whimsy.

Thank you Flaming Lotus Girls for Jeffrey the worm and hands on deck. Margaret, Kyana, Anya, Kathy, Kevin and Kristle. Creme de la creme.

Thank you @espressobuzz for these images that capture the spirit.

If you're ever wondering how TF is any of this possible? It's because of the Bay Area. They doula'd my dream. taken in Black Rock City by @compost_playground

Thank you thank you thank youuuuu! We funded our kickstarter campaign! 🥳 A community of believers and doers coming together to support a project has always been the secret ingredient to success. We celebrated (and rested) for a day and now we're in the thick of final build weeks.

If you're a metalworker or you're interested in learning how to be, come by @boxshopsf this week & next week! We're working round the clock and you're welcome to join us anytime Thursday-Sunday 9a-9p.

Also! We are eligible for late pledges since we successfully funded the original goal. So, you can order any item you've been eyeing during our campaign. Every donation goes directly to the cost of materials and fabrication.

The work is far from over... but it sure feels good to be right here, right now. by @compost_playground

Where would we be without our Core Crew? It's the busiest weeks of build season. Kickstarter closes in less than a week. The heat is on!

@compost_playground is a growing series of large-scale, interactive sculptures that transform the silhouette of discarded food into immersive, playful environments. Jen's current iteration reimagines compost as giant silhouettes repurposed for education and play. The intention is to pique curiosity and encourage the symbiotic relationship between us and the natural environment. The most exciting upgrade to the Apple Core Jungle Gym is the full realization of these red ends. So far, it's feeling cozy inside the 'uneaten' parts of the apple core. We also built a crawl space to explore... you'll see how that works soon...

Thank you @winkingeye for leading the way on these patterns and our approach. With some assistance from @din4hsaur and @rubyshoesinoz we made progress on the outer shell. We'll trace these patterns on 18g sheet metal and welding them one slice at a time. That means we're *this much* closer to cladding!

Your donation empowers the completion of these ends as well as the final powder coat to seal the deal.

Thank you everyone for your support, via Kickstarter, volunteering, and spreading the word. I couldn't do this without you.

The campaign ends in 27 days!

Nobody tells you this but... Did you know a used teabag isn't #compostable if it has a little metal staple at the top?

The inspiration behind the supersized Teabag Beanbag is this small reminder of what is and is not compostable. Our beanbag is approximately 5' tall; just enough room to get cozy and observe the world around you.

Sometimes it's the small details that show the most care in our relationships with each other and the natural environment around us. Take an extra moment to make your efforts worthwhile.

#CompostPlayground is made for an interactive education. To play is the easiest way to learn.

Our kickstarter launches today! 🚀
We’ve been in the lab, designing some adorable one-of-a-kind rewards to celebrate the spirit of composting and playfulness.

While the Honoraria Grant provides critical funding, it does not cover the full cost of fabrication. We're raising $10,000 in 33 days to complete the upgraded Apple Core Jungle Gym AND the first Teabag Beanbag!

After everything we’ve learned in the field, the sculptures are stronger, safer and more colorful. The Apple Core Jungle Gym is returning with structural upgrades, expanded climbing pathways, surface detailing and refined assembly to support our future tour, beyond the desert. Donations from kickstarter will provide materials, fabrication and transportation logistics.

The Core Crew, rich in talent, has been cooking in the studio for months. I couldn’t be more proud of the company we keep while realizing such a whimsical project. And we’re more than halfway complete!

Let's have some fun this year. DM to inquire about building with us @boxshopsf
