Tour is finally finished. This sick Groundhog Day of increasingly burnt-out exhibitionism 🕊️ can finally be put to temporary rest, having taken chunks out of our aching ill-insured bodies. 🧟

Still - as we comedown easy, no doubt that being in perpetual sleep-deprived transit with zero space in our heads to understand anything other than ritually debasing ourselves in each city for your entertainment felt way less perverse than *this*. Shit’s fucked up. Dunno how you do it.

🐶🍻 Anywaysss, just here to say that these shows felt v intense and v special to us and we are beyond grateful to you as our enablers.🐶🍻

🫵 You (if you saw the stories, and thought it looked massive or epic)! A classic for a reason. 👅 The purest form of the show and the only one that really matters. Without you, we would not get booked.

🫵 You (if you actually came to a show)! Tho this is much longer and (let’s be honest) just different, we feel this still has its own special “old” quality that is worth archiving and interrogating.

Ranging from industrial punk to psychotic cabaret, sardonic, horny, angry: that’s @concentration.band, the Berlin/Melbourne offshoot of the Avon Terror Corps collective. Not taking anything from their records, it’s their live performances (including the one that took Unsound 2024 by storm) for which they are particularly renowned. All bets are off at their gigs, but it’s probably safe to say they’re slightly obscene, very anarchic – and extremely entertaining.

On 24th October, Sonitus and o_u will present four Czech premieres. This time, Nox Sonituum will be noisy, challenging and confrontational.

~ Nick Klein
You might encounter the works of multidisciplinary artist Nick Klein in a gallery just as easily as in a rowdy club; he is also an active curator in the Berlin scene and the head of the excellent PL (Psychic Liberation, etc.) label. His musical output ranges from sound art to noise techno; recently, his live sets have tended towards sheer hellish soundscapes. One unifying element of his approach might be the willingness to make it sound raw: Klein does not smooth out the rough edges, and listeners are exposed to harsh sounds and structures. It is quite easy to form an addiction.

~ Concentration

~ Tzu Ni
The work of Taiwanese artist Tzu Ni encompasses not only experimental electronics but also field recordings and installations. Her albums showcase fragmented, unstable structures straddling the line between sound art and noise: a quasi-organic growth that can mutate into something both beautiful and terrifying. Of course, these characteristics are not mutually exclusive.

~ Kutin & Nerve
Both Peter Kutin and Steve Hui (aka Nerve) revel in disjointed electronic compositions. The former works with sound in the context of light or sculpture; he is also involved, for example, in the trio PLF with Elvin Brandhi and Lukas König. Hui is a key figure in the Hong Kong experimental scene; his work fuses contemporary composition with rave, creating unsightly yet thrilling hybrids. Together, Nerve and Kutin do not play noise per se, but their frenzied energy often surpasses its intensity.

Beloved Crash Heads, long time between offerings, but we come bearing ripe fruit. Many of you have no doubt watched as “The End Of History” - Zac Cooper’s (@concentration.band) 2023 bugged out, Berlin bender-suspender covid comedy - went from small time festival oddity to certified cult hit.

About the film: 
Written and filmed in four days each, “The End Of History” tracks Australian techno producers Darcy & Pat as they struggle to acclimatise to a changing Berlin where the clubs have (briefly) been closed down. Forced to either talk to each other or to finally engage with a city they know only as a playground for high-as-fuck expats, they leave as fast as they can to East Germany proper to create “something no one’s ever done before”.  A film written and directed by a guy who was himself in Berlin to get his band off the ground, The End Of History is self-implicating-satire of the network of transient drug pigs who make Berlin their Adult Disneyland.  There’s some stuff about male loneliness in there too.

— About Zac:  One third of @concentration - “one of the greatest live acts on the planet right now” (as per The Quietus) - Zac Cooper is the guy that convinced us to to do autocrash in the first place. “Everyone on Earth should be part of a ten person a collective.” Musician, academic (AI stuff), filmmaker and general Good Time Charlie, Zac’s work is always riotously entertaining.
