“prayer has been removed and there is only white space where it eats away at the abyss of human emotion… pushing the exterior of human form into complete surrender”

this was a real heavy one for me.
i had to allow and even encourage myself to channel all of this immense despair, loss, fear, grief (that i feel is always only inches away at the back of my throat)—much of what had just struck in my personal and family life to create this.

sometimes it took seconds and sometimes minutes to truly reach that poignant space where my thoughts raced on their own and without my encouragement and my heart palpitations brought on the fear, etc.

i love my brother
and this was hard.

i pulled a muscle in my back and neck while working on this piece and each time i would lay stroke i would feel that sharp shot from arm to spine; keeping all casual morbidity out of this—i DO want to say that i truly believe that i was supposed to feel immense discomfort and a steady level of pain while creating this.

and so i did.
3 crowns.
28 faces.
7 open palms.

the weight of ‘going there’ stayed with me when i was done working for whichever day but if nothing else—please just let the fucking art be real.

this entire collection plays with the concepts of physics, surrealism, and the many ways in which we meet god.

update: SOLD

she’s so jazzy!
showed this peace for the first time at @chocolateandartshow this weekend before last.

32x40 on solid birchwood and pine cradled panel
girl! i built that shit, myself🥹😮‍💨
and i’m 5’9, for reference

i’ve been seeing eyes a lot in my work, lately
and i’m feeling like i’m tapping into third-eye properties when i am processing the process.

i’ve got prints but i don’t expect to be able to keep this baby for long.
if you want to see her in person or grab a print i’ll be at @artcrewatl Octoberfest event THIS FRIDAY (10/7) at 8pm alongside so MANY other remarkably talented local artists.

if you can’t make that one—i’ll also be at the Inman Park Wine Stroll on October 22nd (more details to come).

come see what the folks in this city imagine and create.
imma get better with posting more of my process or completed peaces but truthfully?
i fackin’ HATE creating content based around marketing.
it just feels hella weird to me.

i guess ya girls gotta eat, though
and i suppose i can at least find a way to keep things more authentic than not.
i so so so so appreciate the support from everyone
and a special shoutout for the folk that come for the captions
as that is where i primarily reside
these photos and videos only be half-truths.

anyway,
loving you.
loving me.
🌻🤍🍗

‘House in the Park’ is my favorite event in the entire city
the entire state…
easily top 3 in my whole wide world.

i couldn’t stop exclaiming how ”happy i am”
and spent much of the next day ugly crying because my heart couldn’t take it.
moving through the neighborhood from the tennis courts and i feel like a child going through a maze.

my momma brought me in and taught me how to respect my neighbors.
to be intentional.
this is the 24th year;
many of the alumni were younger than us when they started coming.

i hope to continue building the years with my people.
that we let time carry us into years and years and years of ceremony.

there are no words to alleviate this pressure tank of a chest.

i love y’all.
i love y’all.
i love y’all.

see yall next year🦋😭🫶🏼

i’ve been playing with likeness for a cool lil’ minute.
and i’ve spent years dancing between adding and subtracting values
like some kind of mathematician-art-pigeon.
steady poking and playing and still not delving far enough
but
whatever.

the “36x48”;

sitting with this one after spending so much time up close changed the way that i understood the piece in it’s entirety.

i didn’t know what it wanted to be until i was done.
it really didn’t make sense until i stepped away to come back. by @concrete.fish

two mixed-media paintings from my Of Marrow series.
portraiture, interruption, color, and structure.
i used this series to explore identity through hair, through spine.

still figuring out how much i want to say before the work says it first.

i’m sure i’ll come back. by @concrete.fish

i was lucky enough to grow up camping in yosemite
and with a momma who showed me by example the importance of solitude, nature, and living within the earth.

and although i have yet to take steps to the length that she has—i have found the beginning of my path because of her light.

it’s been a wild year and wet summer with e.coli ridden rivers, lakes and creeks
so this year hosted my most inactive, confined, and insufferable summer.
i’ve been reminding myself often to not be too upset with the earth for needing to repair itself (especially with the georgia drought last year).

anyway, this is what i love.
i didn’t film much but a snippet.

camping, kayaking, swimming, hiking, biking, reading…
as far away from the city sounds as possible.

as i’ve grown older—i’ve come to resent living in the city.

kayaking, hiking, and especially camping reminds me how capable i am.
how strong this body is. (i was so proud of myself for this swim).
i feel naturally compelled to use every single aspect of it.
to exert my energy in manual tasks.
it all feels different ‘out there’.

i have realized, however—that even the practice of movement and mobility becomes difficult for me to maintain once back in atlanta.

my solitude feels more like hiding, here.
and less like a natural practice.

i’ve been planning to make this my last true home within a city.
and i’m going to do everything that i can to make a true homestead possible for myself.

i’ll be so out the way spring through fall of 2027.
with another georgia year that is likely to show that it rained as many days as it didn’t in 2026–next year is so promising for someone like me.

i’m rambling but still…
thanks for coming to my ted talk.

i love you.

post script;
dedicated to all who feel stifled within the city the lipstick on my right front tooth.
in case you missed it.🦋 by @concrete.fish
