This is what giving back looks like!

Over 100 students came out for SNEABJ & ConnCORP’s Back to School Basketball Tournament in partnership with the Central CT Coast YMCA, and we were proud to send them home with backpacks, school supplies and plenty of memories.

These are the events that mean the most to us. When we can give back, collaborate and support our community, that’s a win every time.

A huge thank you to all of the news stations who came out to support and shine a light on what we’re doing in the community. We appreciate you!

And much love to our planning team, especially @ryan.leatch and @_danielhunt203, for helping bring this all together.

Generational wealth is about more than what sits in a bank account. It’s also about what allows families to build, grow, and plan for the future in the first place.

In a new op-ed for CT Mirror, ConnCORP President Philip Rigueur makes the case as to why we must start treating health equity as an economic development strategy

When poor health, medical debt, or limited access to care consumes a family’s resources, the impact reaches far beyond the doctor’s office. It affects education, employment, homeownership, entrepreneurship, and the ability to build assets that can be passed from one generation to the next.

As Philip writes: “Generational health is generational wealth.”

🎨 MEET OUR TENANT-PRENEURS: @theheartfactory

We had a chance to sit down with sisters and creative duo Jasmine Nikole @jasmine_nikole_art and Tiara McKnight @patient_tee !

They are the owners of The HeART Factory, a creative experience studio right here on the third floor. They host original artwork alongside workshops, retreats, corporate events, birthday parties and hands-on experiences that build community around creativity, think paint and sips, terrarium building, and plate making. Both sisters grew up in New Haven, and after years of building her art business here, Jasmine was joined by Tee when she moved back to town. What started as one artist finding her footing has grown into a shared business built on family, creativity, and connection.

Jasmine first showed her work at the Orchid Gallery downstairs alongside Nico Okoro, and when she saw the newly renovated third floor space, she knew right away it was the right fit for what she wanted to build next. Now The HeART Factory calls The Lab home.

This is exactly why The Lab at ConnCORP exists, to give entrepreneurs like Jasmine and Tee the space to grow their business and build community around their craft

Their next workshop is this Friday from 6:30 to 8pm, a posing class open to anyone who wants to strike a pose (literally). Stop by the third floor to say hello and see what they're creating!

The energy in that room was unmatched. 🏀🔥

This is what happens when community shows up for community. On August 21st, ConnCORP teamed up with SNEABJ and the YMCA to host our Back to School High School Basketball Tournament, and New Haven brought it. For a few hours, that gym was more than a court, it was a safe haven. A place where kids could just be kids, where parents could relax and cheer, and where the whole neighborhood came together under one roof.

Players gave us 5-on-5 competition that had everyone on their feet, parents and supporters filled the sidelines with love and noise, and every player who came through left with a backpack and school supplies to start the year off right.

Add in pizza, music, and prizes for the winners, and you've got a night that reminded us why this work matters. Creating safe spaces for our young people isn't just a nice idea, it's the mission.
