I got a new school picture, so I thought it might be time to introduce myself again.

I’m a wife, mom, twin mom, elementary teacher, Portuguese speaker, dancer, Christmas enthusiast, hot chocolate drinker, music lover, and—most importantly—a follower of Jesus Christ.

I love finding connections between people, building bridges, and noticing all the places where faith brings us together.

Meet Jared and Stefanie. ❤️

Jared is Brazilian, a personal trainer, coach and bodybuilder. He came to the U.S. to improve his English, and only about four months later, he met Stefanie. 🇺🇸❤️

And here’s the amazing part: Stefanie is American, served a mission in Brazil and speaks Portuguese fluently! 🇧🇷

They fell in love, got married and today have three children, including boy-and-girl twins. ❤️

They’ve been living in St. George for about five years, and we had such a fun conversation with them at Araujo Brazilian Kitchen.

There are people that do not understand my obsession with Christmas.🎄😄 I am the type that decorates for Christmas on November 1st.👍

Yes, I’m watching Christmas in July on @greatamericanfamily with @candacecbure .❤️

I love Christmas because it’s one of the few times of year when people naturally turn their hearts to Jesus.

For a little while, it feels like we’re all a little more connected in Christ. ❤️

This is so simple but makes so much sense. Worry is what the heavy backpack feels like. It slows us down. And Jesus says give it to Him. So grateful for Jesus and all He did for us.

What if one of the most important things we can give our children before they become independent is trust in a loving Heavenly Father? 🤍

I love the way Stefanie explains this.

Prayer-because He loves us.
Scriptures-because He loves us.
Families-because He loves us.
Commandments-because He loves us.
Even opportunities to grow through opposition-within a life where He loves us.

Because eventually, our children start making their own way in the world.

They make decisions we aren’t there to help them make.
They ask their own questions.
They wrestle with their own faith.
They learn how to hear God for themselves.

And in those moments, I want my children’s foundation to be:

My Heavenly Father loves me. I can trust Him. I can turn to Him.

What a different foundation that creates than imagining God standing over them with a clipboard, waiting to see if they get everything right.

I want them to know the God who loves them, teaches them, guides them, strengthens them, and keeps inviting them closer. 💛

And I want that truth rooted deeply enough that when they need Him, they already know where to turn.

Have you ever sent your child somewhere without you and thought…

Wait. How are they going to be okay without me there? 🥹

When Stefanie sent her youngest daughter off to kindergarten, she started thinking about all the ways she had prepared her.

A watch so she could call.
Phone numbers memorized.
A teacher who knew how to reach her.
Ways to stay connected when Mom wasn’t physically there.

And then the thought came:

What if this gives us a glimpse of how Heavenly Father feels about sending US to earth? 🤍

He knew we would be away from His presence.

And He gave us ways to stay connected to Him including prayer.

I LOVE where Stefanie takes this analogy because this is only the beginning. She shares several more ways that sending our children to school mirrors the ways Heavenly Father has prepared and provided for us here.

And it is such a beautiful reminder:

We were sent here prepared, provided for, and deeply loved. 💛
