🇯🇲 This month we celebrated Jamaican Independence Day, and we’re holding pride and urgency in the same breath.

Last year, this community raised and distributed more than $9,000 to over 60 trans and queer Jamaicans devastated by Hurricane Melissa. A year later, many are still rebuilding.

The headlines moved on. We didn’t. Relaunching our relief fund today. // for the QR code search “Connek Ja” in Zelle or hit the link in bio. 🖤💚💛 taken in Kingston, Jamaica by @connekja

We did it! We sent out 2 huge barrels with our Connek Care packages and genders affirming care yesterday to Jamaica! Clothes, shoes, toiletries, food, and electronics all with the help of all of you who donated towards this love package to our kin Jamaica. A special thanks to @bttfresources @spicy.zine @sapphicja @ragganyc @blacktranslove_ @cmoneverybodybk for tapping into to make this happen.

If you have more to donate comment in this post and we’ll find a date/ space for another drop off event. 📦💗

Next month we are flying down to give out these donations and hand out no barriers cash to trans and queer folks in Jamaica still rebuilding from Hurricane Melissa last November. Every dollar goes directly to a trans or queer Jamaican rebuilding their life. No overhead. No middlemen. Just solidarity, in action.

Give what you can. Share what you can’t. The work continues, and so do we. With love and solidarity. -

Introducing Kattttt, live at Beach Please 🌊🎶

Formerly known as Kat C.H.R., Kattttt has spent over a decade making music, touring, performing and recording alongside artists like Diana King, Mckenzie Eddy, Jovi Rockwell and Rootz Underground.
Back home in Kingston, he helped build the city’s alternative music scene through his self-produced live events: Love Lazers, Rebel Grrrrl Musick! and Altered Fridays, which became a staple for Kingston’s queer community. Now based in the US, he’s also a professional chef. 👨🏾‍🍳
His sound has been called “alternative lovers rock”: silky, love-soaked melodies with edgy dancehall and hip hop undertones. You don’t want to miss this one. 💛

Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica hard, leaving many of our people without homes, income, and safety. For trans and queer Jamaicans, the impact has been even greater, with many facing additional barriers to accessing emergency support.

Connek JA and our partners are once again organizing this zero-barrier mutual aid fund to provide direct cash support to trans and queer community members most affected by Hurricane Melissa. Every dollar goes directly to someone in need.

Last year, this community raised and distributed more than $9,000 to over 60 trans and queer Jamaicans devastated by Hurricane Melissa. A year later, many are still rebuilding.

The headlines moved on. We didn’t. We open to applicants next week so every dollar counts. Link in bio. 🖤💚💛 taken in Kingston, Jamaica by @connekja

🇯🇲 This summer we celebrated Jamaican Independence Day, and we’re holding pride and urgency in the same breath.

A lot of our trans and queer family on the island are still navigating a post hurricane life as the resources that poured into the island from major NGOs were not allocated to THE PEOPLE. So we are doing it all again to step in with no barriers funds and care packages.

Last year, this community raised and distributed more than $9,000 to over 60 trans and queer Jamaicans devastated by Hurricane Melissa.

The headlines moved on. We didn’t. Relaunching our relief fund with love. Share and donate if you can. Link in bio. 🖤💚💛
