POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Time for the 2nd photo dump of the year - a lot has happened. Moved & introduced an additional 2 furry friends to the group. More cats = more shenanigans. Have been very fortunate to be involved as a member of the Executive Board of Local 80. It’s been an honor to be involved and to serve the members. More truss & Charlottes first baseball game. Been fortunate to live some life recently. I feel very blessed by @connor_colby

Back in December @yeaforbes called and asked me to design a structure for a steel ceiling piece with adjustable distance for lighting - so I got to work and came up with this. Designed in @vectorworks

Thankful to serve as Rigging Key / Best Boy on Bruno Mars’ music video for “I Just Might”

Summer is ending, so felt appropriate to appreciate the times that were had. The days were full of music, sets were lit, and the nights were full of memories by @connor_colby

Happy Earth Day 2025. Every earth day is special, especially growing up in scouting - spending a lot of time outdoors hiking and camping. Yosemite is my happy place. But this year it’s also my parent’s 30 year anniversary, so that makes this Earth Day a bit more special. by @connor_colby

As another year comes to a close, thanks to everyone I’ve had the chance to work with, for, or even not! I appreciate all of you. I love what I get to do, and the people are a huge part of it! Here’s some fun memories from the year (at least some that I can share) sorry to those I didn’t get to tag by @connor_colby

Join us as we wrap out the grip package from my latest movie. We’ve pulled everything out of the trailer and spread it out to count and check every piece of gear, making sure it’s all accounted for. We go off the prep list, staying organized and thorough. We clean and maintain everything before it goes back—waxing the stands and touching up gear as needed. Big thanks to Rob Richardson at Pacific Coast Grip for the 32-foot trailer. It was dialed in for this shoot, and we’re reconfiguring the carts back to his setup so it’s ready for his next project.

For a movie like this, we work off two shorties: the dolly cube shorty and the grip shorty 40. The dolly cube handles all things dolly-related—housing the dolly, dance floor, track, sliders, planks, wedges, and more. The grip shorty 40 is our main attack package with rags, frames, sandbags—everything we need to hit the ground running at the start of each day. We’ve got 12x12 and 20x20 frames ready to go for setup.

These shorties stay close to set for efficiency, while the trailer holds extra gear like spare rags and hardware that can be flown in when needed. It’s always nearby for quick access, keeping us ready for anything.

That’s our method of attack for a feature like this. What’s your workflow? I’d love to hear if you’ve got a different approach or any tips that work better for you.
