Excited to once again receive an MIA Individual Artist Grant from the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs. I am very grateful for the ongoing support of my work and artistic practice. Excited to share that three Upper Academy iPrep students , Samantha (grade 8), Valentina (grade 10), and Thiago (grade 12) got their artwork accepted to the exhibition “Guiding Hands, Creative Minds” presented by the M-DCPS Visual Arts Department and the Dade Art Educators Association in partnership with Barry University’s Andy Gato Gallery.

This curated exhibition celebrates the dynamic relationship between Miami-Dade County Public Schools art teachers and their students. Each teacher presents their own artwork alongside student pieces that reflect how the teacher’s personal style, medium, and creative practice inspire and influence their students. The show highlights the power of mentorship, creativity, and the lasting impact of passionate art education.

This exhibition will be on view from November 5, 2026 - November 18, 2026 at the Andy Gato Gallery, Barry University. There is an opening reception on Thursday, November 5, 2026 from 6-8pm.

Excited to share that three Upper Academy iPrep students, Mateo (grade 6), Alexander (grade 8), and Juliana (grade 8) got their artwork accepted to the exhibition “Archetypes and Legendary Characters... Myth, Symbol, Story” at the Miami International Airport Gallery.

This exhibition invites students in grades K-12 to explore myth, symbolism, and storytelling by creating original artworks inspired by archetypal figures or legendary characters. This exhibition will be on view at the Miami International Airport Gallery from November 20, 2026 - January 20, 2027.

Following the news of Yayoi Kusama’s passing, I reflect on the artist’s impact and inspiration to my art students across the years of my teaching. From her joyful love of polka dots, to her obliteration rooms, infinity rooms, and her bright pumpkins, she has been a source of inspiration in my classroom for years. Middle school 2D Art Class collaboration inspired by the artwork of Jen Stark, a multimedia artist born in Miami and currently living in Los Angeles. Jen Stark is best known for creating optical art using psychedelic colors in patterns and drips that mimic intricate motifs found in nature. Utilizing line, pattern, repetition, and color, students created individual drip drawings that later became part of the collaborative whole.
