Stepping onto Robben Island Museum is a powerful reminder of the heavy price paid for South Africa’s freedom. WeThePeopleSA, in partnership with Constitution Hill, took our provincial and international youth camp delegates to this historic site. Walking where giants like Nelson Mandela and Robert Sobukwe once endured unimaginable hardship yet stood unbreakable connects our youth directly to the roots of our democracy.
Our primary goal for these sessions is to bridge the generational knowledge gap for a generation born long after 1994, ensuring the sacrifices of our history are never forgotten. Through these experiences, we aim to deepen constitutional literacy by bringing the Bill of Rights to life and showing how it applies to everyday youth; encourage civic engagement by equipping young South Africans to understand their political rights and responsibilities; and empower future leaders by inspiring our youth to move. Stepping onto the grounds of Robben Island Museum a powerful reminder of the heavy price paid for South Africa’s freedom.

WeThePeopleSA hosted a Train-the-Trainer workshop with dedicated educators, focused on making the Constitution more palatable, relatable and alive in the classroom.
