🫖 UPCOMING 🫖

Possibility of Tenderness is a display of new work by artist Ocean Baulcombe-Toppin.

Join us on Thursday 1 October from 5pm for a relaxed launch with refreshments. All welcome. RSVP via DM.

💫💫💫

For CONTAINER WORKS, @oceanloren presents Possibility of Tenderness, a staging of seed and herb parcels coding and decoding transatlantic flows of energy and material.

Navigating this relationship with botany and ritual, Baulcombe-Toppin suggests the potential for communal exchange to act as a conscious togetherness. Drawing from writings by herbalist Karen M. Rose and historical references to the bush tea practices of Barbados, Possibility of Tenderness connects with what is underfoot and transported. Water is an energy flow, suggested both by its presence and its absence. Cultural and agricultural knowledges of the Caribbean, Latin America, and Africa are parcelled, articulated through material languages. The seeds and herbs are bitter remedies: they can cleanse, relax and calm, and build courage.

As Baulcombe-Toppin works through ideas of gifting, exchange, and cultural and ecological memory, eventually the work will travel beyond her control. Leaving the grasp of the artist and entering into a stage of bodily transference, the works presented here are to be planted, brewed, tended to and sipped. They are their own economies. The parcel bags have previously been used to gift herbal teas, pointing back towards their participation in cyclical exchanges.

As time passes and interactions with the body, soil, and water rotate and converge, the contents of the parcels will pass into the unknown and unseen. The seeds and herbs may fall into the cracks, swallowed by the land, emerging when ready as offerings for botanic and cultural study.

*Possibility of Tenderness is adapted from Jason Allen-Paisant's 2025 book 'The Possibility of Tenderness: A Jamaican Memoir of Plants and Dreams'.

Possibility of Tenderness includes a public programme of invited artists @zivarnamurphyceramics and @publictactics.

Possibility of Tenderness is on display until Thursday 31 December 2026.

In relationship with @the.anna.log current CONTAINER WORKS show, 18/05/2026 - ONGOING, multidisciplinary artist @emily_fratson presents a new digital text work, 'Circuits'.

'Circuits' interprets wellbeing and the body through the position of motherhood and family. A text-friendly version of work is available below.

18/05/2026 - ONGOING is on view until Wednesday 30 September.

💫💫💫

Prior to the cylinder, there is a flat, laminar disc. We are it, it is all of us, before we become me and you and you.

We read about the rapid development of your body, but we cannot imagine the ways we two will also fold and crease, twist and turn inward and unfurl to graze each others’ humanness. Our alien selves, too, do not know that from a void of nothing, need will draw something out.

In ancient humourism, environmental factors unbalance the four key components of the body. Germ theory and modern advancements put an end to this mode of thought, but I wonder if we were too quick to dismiss it when I become acid green with static at the close of the day, when I see your father’s brown edges, touching his shades of purple.

Is having a body being?

Tissue begins to arrange into the inner ear at eight weeks. By the second trimester, you are hearing heartbeat, digestion and breath. Muffled, aquatic voices tell you about the world.

Eight weeks postpartum. Hammer, Anvil, Stirrup. Milk tissue. Brainblur.

I am a child and I place a floppy disc in a computer tower. A small motor takes hold of the center and spins it rapidly, replacing the infinite loop piercing a black void on my screen with ‘Oregon Trail’. Today, I am determined to get my family across the river. by @container.wks

There is a new Wellbeing Drawing in our vitrine! 🖍️

We are just over halfway through 𝟭𝟴/𝟬𝟱/𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 - 𝗢𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴, a display of new work by artist @the.anna.log

For CONTAINER WORKS Anna Farley is presenting a growing collection of Wellbeing Drawings which will change over time.

The drawings happen when Anna is stuck, overloaded with too many thoughts, tasks, or choices. Putting pencil to paper and scratching in colour channels all of the energy – be it anxiety or confusion or excitement – into a visual map.

𝟭𝟴/𝟬𝟱/𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 - 𝗢𝗻𝗴𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 is on display until Wednesday 30 September.

CONTAINER WORKS is free to visit, and is publicly accessible at all times.

A small selection of Wellbeing Drawings are also available to view at @juicehull. Please get in touch with them directly to organise a visit to the studios. taken in Kingston upon Hull by @container.wks

For CONTAINER WORKS @the.anna.log is presenting a growing collection of Wellbeing Drawings which will change over time. As Anna’s regular practice of drawing evolves and new drawings are made, the display in the wall vitrine will change, reflecting the pliable and bending nature of Anna’s work.

Anna’s Wellbeing Drawings always start with a membrane around the shape. By colouring inside the lines, Anna creates an anatomy of unintentional, organic references to form.

Bringing people together through drawing on a light and fresh Sunday morning 🫧

For Drawing Group, @the.anna.log shared their Wellbeing Drawing process with us. Encouraging free creation through form, colour, and easily accessed drawing materials, such as colouring pencils and paper, the drawing circle illuminated our earliest memories of drawing and brought to the surface the feelings we attribute with mark making and colour.

Anna’s 𝟭𝟴/𝟬𝟲/𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 - 𝗢𝗡𝗚𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗚 is on display until Wednesday 30 September, and is free to visit.

Anna’s support and care workers make sure she has these drawings with her, or that there is plain paper and colouring pencils available. People see different things in each drawing, a little bit like cloud watching.
