LAOWA SUNLIGHT 2X FULL FRAME ANAMORPHIC AMBER ZOOMS 40-80MM, 70-135MM T4.5 The Laowa Sunlights are the world's first full frame front anamorphic zooms, and we're blown away! Paired with open gate cameras like the Sony Burano or Venice 2, they unlock true 6K and 8K anamorphic capture. With coverage from 40mm to 135mm, they're still surprisingly compact. If you've used the Angénieux EZ series, these are only 1.5 lbs heavier and 1/2" longer. We chose the Amber series for their added warmth and character. Lights directly in frame create a beautiful amber streak, while lights just out of frame produce rich golden ovals, veiling glare, and dramatic light rays. Close focus allows you to stay nearly diopter free, at just 2' on the 40-80 and 2.5' on the 70-135. The Sunlights are sharp edge to edge without sacrificing their anamorphic character. When efficiency and coverage are a priority, anamorphic used to go out the window. Compact full-frame anamorphic glass is officially having a moment. With the Arcana series, @dzofilm has built something truly special. Like the Blazar anamorphics, the Arcanas use an oval aperture to pull off that coveted 2X oval bokeh on a more practical 1.5X squeeze. moony - “He’s a Good Fisherman” What a wild ride this one was. Seth and I have made visuals for his music for the past few years, but this was the first time we really got to dive deep into the world and story he’s been building. “William Trimtoe” is Seth’s first fully conceptual album, and this video sets the stage for the story that unfolds through the rest of the record. In order to do it justice, we had to bring out an amazingly talented crew to northern Michigan to pull off an ambitious amount of setups. Much love to our Ohio crew that came out to make this happen ❀ In a special collaboration with @contrast_cine and @leitzcine we were able to take out the @djiglobal Ronin 4D 8K and the new Leitz HEKTOR primes. We needed a camera package that could pull off smooth and controlled moves, operate in unique angles, and move really efficiently. We also needed lenses that were lightweight, full frame, with plenty of resolution but also a bit of subtle vintage character. The Leitz Hektors ended up being a perfect match for our story. Huge thank you to Contrast and Leitz for believing in this project, and supporting indie artists + filmmakers alike.
