Who else is looking forward to the weekend so they can have a roast dinner?

Had the most gorgeous time last Sunday visiting @thecrowdedhouse to try their Sunday menu.

Attention to detail is shown throughout the menu with dishes such as focaccia with burnt onion butter and cauliflower cheese spread and roasted ex dairy cow rump with an ox cheek beignet. Sides with the meat roast included beef fat roasties, bbq peas and greens so plenty to fill the plate with.

My partner got the vegan roast option of grilled hispi cabbage with romesco sauce which came with all the roast sides but his own garlicky roast potatoes and gravy.

Have to end on something sweet with a roast so we both went for the sticky toffee pudding which came with lashings of cider reduced toffee sauce, so good!

Left feeling very full and very satisfied! Thanks again for the invite @thecrowdedhouse! Would definitely recommend for a Sunday dinner in Leeds city centre!

Everyone listen up, @bundobust has got a new menu and it is incredible 🔥

I have loved Bundobust for years visiting with my boyfriend since I first moved to Leeds back in 2019 so I knew the new menu would not disappoint. As well as new dishes like the Manchurian wings which I LOVED they’ve also improved and changed the recipe on loads of familiar dishes as well!

As always the staff are super friendly and more than happy to help with suggestions on the menu if needed! While I would say it’s hard to go wrong here I would definitely recommend the new chilli crisp raita, it’s just a really tasty yogurt dip with really good pickles on top. I added it to loads of stuff and it just was a delicious addition. The wings as I mentioned above were super tasty, as are the sliders, I liked the bhaji butty in particular. But honestly the menu has so much delicious stuff to choose from, you’re guaranteed to pretty much love whatever you order!

First time trying the chai, I went for the oat milk option and it felt like the perfect ending to a delicious meal. The cups are so cute as well!

Thanks so much for the invite @bundobust ❤️

I love cooking with the seasons, and thinking up new ideas, so here is a little highlight of how I’ve been using up some seasonal ingredients this autumn, including ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner!

For breakfast I’ve been loving apple and cinnamon porridge, topped with honeyed figs and plenty of nuts and seeds. Even without the figs just the porridge alone is delicious topped with a little Greek yogurt!

For lunch I made a salad using roasted butternut squash and carrot, kale, pearl barley and roasted chickpeas. I coated the whole salad in a miso sesame dressing and topped with plenty of feta. This lasted so well in the fridge, so was a great option for work!

For dinner I made a butternut squash and kale mac and cheese topped with a cheesy Parmesan breadcrumb topping.

Just a little highlight into what I’ve enjoyed making recently!

The most gorgeous trip to @39coffeeco in Ilkley for a catch up with my friends.

I love a homemade soup and this tomato and red pepper soup was served with a cheese scone which was exactly what I wanted on what felt like a really cold day! Definitely very autumnal! I had it with the apple warmer which was a hot spiced apple juice, really tasty!

Gorgeous lunch followed by a potter around the shops in Ilkley, a very lovely Sunday!

Happy Friday!

Please ignore the massive line down my face, this picture wasn’t meant for Instagram but honestly I couldn’t not share the absolute feast that was this spread from @caliloleeds last weekend.

Very impromptu date night with my fiancé. Thought it would be nice to explore more of what’s in Woodlesford so had a lovely glass of Prosecco @remedy_cocktail_bar followed by dinner at @caliloleeds and it was such a lovely evening. A massive reminder to me to not always be going into town but also exploring all the great spots near me!

Fair to say we were a little defeated after this platter but we left very fully but very happy! Amazing how happy a platter of food and sharing a bottle of Prosecco can make you!

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

Now that we are into a new season, I always like to look through my cookbooks and find a few new recipes to try!

I was bought this @juliusroberts cookbook last year and while it is a beautiful book, for some reason I haven’t used it much so decided to try out the pasta e ceci recipe as I had some bold bean chickpeas in which I thought would work well!

I ended up tweaking the recipe a little, added more dried herbs instead of fresh and cooking the pasta in the broth as opposed to adding later. The flavour of this was so good, and I love how it uses either British produce seasonal this time of year like carrots and leeks or canned, which makes it a cheaper recipe too!

Really enjoyed this! Served alongside some garlic bread focaccia which I made ages ago and froze!

Give me a massive bowl of ramen and a plate of sushi and I am a happy gal 🍜

@heysushileeds kindly invited me to try out some dishes, and with it being located just across the road from the University where I work, it made the ideal after work pick me up!

We got a mix of the salmon avocado and the spicy tuna sushi roll, as well as the king prawn ramen and the halal ramen.

I loved the sushi, really fresh and tasty- both were good but our favourite was definitely the spicy tuna. The king prawn ramen came with a pork based broth which was delicious, really rich and comforting.

Overall we had a great time! I think especially with the students now back at uni this would be a great choice, as the prices are really great value!

Thanks again for the invite!

Ramen is one of my all time favourite comfort foods, and I always lean towards it when the weather gets colder and I need something warm and hearty as a pick me up.

@makiramen has such a great selection to choose from. I pretty much always get the chicken ramen when I visit because I just love how crispy the fried chicken is and the size portions are so generous. The broth is really tasty and just super comforting. I also love sushi, so like to get some whenever I visit. This time I tried the rainbow sushi as was a great way to sample a bit of everything! It came with a selection of 8 different options.

I got a yuzu iced tea mocktail and also a passionfruit bubble tea to drink, which were both lovely! Really great to see that they have a great mix of veggie and vegan options as well as lots of halal options as well!

Thanks for the invite @makiramen ❤️

Looking for a healthy and cosy mid week meal for Autumn?

I love making a this dhal this time of year! The base dhal is inspired by a recipe I love from @johngs and then I love added extra spices roasted veg and chickpeas.

If you want to give it a try, see below!

In a large pan, heat some oil and add 3 tbsp of cumin seeds. Allow them to crackle for a moment and then add 1 thinly sliced onion and cook and until lovely and soft and caramelised.

At this point add in plenty of garlic (around 4 crushed cloves) and ginger and cook for a minute.

Then add 1 tsp of tumeric, 1 tsp of chilli powder, 200g dried red lentils, 1 tin of chopped tomatoes, 1 tin of coconut milk and a good pinch of salt. Give it a good stir and then leave with the lid on for 30 minutes to simmer. You may want to give it a stir half way!

Meanwhile chop one sweet potato into small chinks along with two sliced red onions. Add to a baking tray along with a drained can of chickpea. Toss in oil and 2 tbsp of garam masala and roast for 30 minutes at 190 fan.

Once the dhal is cooked through add the juice of 1 lime and plenty of coriander. Serve the dhal topped with the roasted veg and extra coriander!

Enjoy!

Gorgeous few days away in Lincoln, including this visit to @stokescoffee on the lawn for a lovely brunch with my family!

I got the shakshuka and my sister got the berry pancakes. Not pictured was also the lumberjack breakfast which was the biggest breakfast complete with both a full English and pancakes, the breakfast stack and eggs and bacon.

Stokes does a great range of tea and coffee so I got the Japanese cherry blossom green tea which was lovely and served in the prettiest tea pot!

Always love a trip to Lincoln!
