Day three in Costa Rica. Started the day with a morning swim at Playa Carillo and then drove 3 hours to Montezuma Beach. We hiked for two miles to get to what is supposed to be one of the best, and least visited, stretches of beach in the country. Well, libby lost a flip flop to the insane shore break river crossing, which was pretty lame, but I did find her not one, but two replacements in the massive amount of trash on the beach. When we finally got to the secret playa, it turns out that it, too, was covered in trash and people who had read the same blog as me.

Our Airbnb was also an interesting experience, it had an outdoor jucuzi tub, which would have been cool if the hot water worked at all. We were woken up at 2 in the morning by the unmistakable sound of howler monkeys. We figured they had to be close, but probably not in the trees above... well, the monkey shit all over our rental car told us that they were right on top of us, and we never went out to see them.

Not every day is a victory, although the whole Red Snapper we shared for dinner helped a lot.
