Gudgel Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon has come over time to utilize more fruit from Coombsville, with a particular preference for the Terra Solis Vineyard. Frank and Mark have struck up a friendship, and Frank’s sustainable practices, genial personality, exceptional grapes, and attention to detail make it an easy and exciting path forward. Yesterday Frank shared this image of harvest, indicating that the 2026 is off the vine and ready for crush. Caldwell Vineyards in Napa Valley is one of those places.   Time spent at Caldwell in the Coombsville AVA means unforgettable stories, genuine connection, plenty of laughs, and the kind of inspiration that goes far beyond the views and pours. (Genuinely love everything they produce.)  It’s a reminder that your legacy is built in the moments you refuse to play small- - when you choose courage over comfort and go all in on the life you were meant to live.

Through our relationship with the grower and closely-aligned ethos, Gudgel Ranch has come to include more and more Cabernet Sauvignon from the Terra Solis Vineyard in each vintage. Tonight we are relaxing with a glass of Frank’s 2023, 100% varietal and made by the same amazing winemaker, Jean Hoefliger. It is exceptional and excites us for the future. Shadybrook Estate’s Overlook Experience was the perfect way to celebrate our friend’s 40th birthday!

We spent the afternoon at Shadybrook Estate’s Overlook Experience, sipping wine above the vineyards, exploring the caves, and getting to spend time with winemaker Rudy, whose decades of experience made hearing the stories behind the wines that much more special.

Our first harvest of 2026 🍇

Yesterday we picked our first grapes of the 2026 vintage- beautiful Cabernet Franc from our Arrow&Branch Estate Vineyard. There’s something incredibly special about the first harvest of the year, but sharing it alongside family makes the moment even more meaningful.

Here’s to early mornings, full bins, and the beginning of another remarkable vintage. 🍷

One the BEST crews in the valley along with our winemaker @jessgmcdowell doing the quiet work. We have been racking our 2025 Sauvignon Blanc off its lees. ⁠
⁠
This wine spent most of its time sur lie, where the lees scavenge oxygen and shield from oxidation, while regular bâtonnage kept the lees in suspension to build texture and depth.⁠

She’s out of oak and will be gently ushered into stability work ahead of bottling. Watch for the galaxy at the bottom of the barrel. It’s the Winemaker’s Hubble.⁠

Some of the most memorable evenings in Napa Valley happen around one table.

Thank you, Joy Caldwell, for the invitation to such a thoughtful vintner dinner. It was a privilege to spend the evening with Mario Moreno, Estate Manager at JFC, learning more about the vineyards, the vintage, and the care that goes into every bottle.

The menu was a beautiful reflection of the season, beginning with heirloom tomatoes, compressed cucumber, whipped chèvre and pickled onion alongside the 2024 Sauvignon Blanc Reserve. A Brentwood corn and Australian black truffle risotto paired beautifully with the 2022 Pinot Noir, followed by braised beef short rib with confit garlic polenta, Nantes carrots, parsnips and Tuscan kale served with both the 2021 GOLD Cabernet Sauvignon and 2023 GOLD Cabernet Sauvignon. The evening concluded with a vanilla cream tartlet featuring Silverado Trail strawberries and wild fennel—a perfect finish to an unforgettable dinner.
