Had the privilege of shooting this piece for @fostervillageaustin . These kids were incredible. Their stories were both heartbreaking and inspiring. My intention for this piece was to have the lighting feel as natural as possible. I wanted the light to be hard and broken. I also pushed the camera to hold both extremes on its dynamic range abilities.

Happy anniversary, @paulinalagudiulrich ! 12 exciting years together, 7 of them married, and 2 kids who are beyond lucky to have you as their mom.

I am so thankful for all the ways you show up for our family, how you make hard days easier just by being in them, and how much better I am for having you across from me in all of it. It really is true; no one gets me quite like you do.

I bet 12 years ago, on our first date - the one where we talked for three or four hours and closed out the restaurant - you never expected to meet someone who talked more than I did... and then we had our first son.

Choosing to build this life with you was one of the best things I’ve ever done.

My son Dean is 5! Hard to believe. @paulinalagudiulrich and I have been parents raising these crazy boys for 5 years now.

All I can say is… Don’t F’ing blink. It goes by in a flash.

I’m so proud of the young man I’m raising. He’s the sweetest, funniest, and most talkative kid I know. Happy Birthday bubbas. by @cooperulrich

This commercial was a moving catalog of California-inspired luxury mattresses, shot on location in a real home over two days where we had to make two rooms feel like four distinct, dynamic spaces. The schedule was intense, and a major rainstorm hit on day one. Rather than fight it, I leaned in, and that ended up being one of my favorite looks in the spot.

We were lighting multiple setups simultaneously, including one that transitioned dynamically from evening to dusk to night within the spot itself which meant I was adjusting exposure constantly throughout. The ALEXA 35 gave me the confidence to chase that in real time, knowing the image would hold no matter where the light landed.

It turns out I've shot a fair amount of high-end mattresses and luxury bedding over the years. There's something genuinely interesting about that niche. The challenge of making something inherently still feel warm, tactile, and aspirational. Light does a lot of heavy lifting.

Shot on the Arri Alexa Mini with Cooke S4i's and Speed Panchro Classics. A pairing I keep coming back to for work that wants character without calling attention to itself.
