Just a reminder that the studio is CLOSED for shopping through Thursday Oct 8th.

Although Donna will be hosting workshops, she won’t be available to take giftshop/supply shop sales while she is teaching. If you are registered for one of her classes and need to get in touch, refer to your confirmation or logistics email for her contact info.

I’m going to do my best to unplug for a few days, so leave a message or email and I will get back to you when I return for regular business hours on Friday October 9th.

Cindy from @truckeemeadowscandleco just dropped off a fresh batch of candles for the gift shop! All of your favorite scents plus some new to the studio.

Just a reminder, I will be in the studio for regular business hours through tomorrow, Saturday. The studio will be closed for shopping through the following Thursday. We will be back for regular business hours on Friday, October 9th.

We are two weeks away from Kelley Knickerbocker’s annual block of classes at Copper Cat Studio!

Although we are sold out for Natural + Manmade Materials in Mosaic on Oct 15-16th, we still have a couple of spots left in Apoxie Sculpt in Mosaic on Saturday/Sunday Oct 17th/18th.

✨Come explore a multitude of uses for this amazing two part epoxy modeling compound in mosaic. Starting with black, natural, and white AS bases you’ll learn to pigment the AS to any color you wish and create stunning color blends and gradients. From there you’ll move on to wrapping tesserae and the edges of a mosaic, contouring a line of andamento, rolling and gilding velvety matte filati, shaping delicate rings, spirals and forms as well as eddies/waves in “water” and much more. All materials provided✨

Please contact me by this Saturday to secure your spot. I’ll be taking some time off next week and will be away from all work related duties 🌴

Earlier in the week, I was posting about the “last of 2026 workshops” and we have another coming up soon.

Our final Silk Painting workshop of 2026 with Louise Noel is a week from Sunday, Oct 11th.

✨Join silk artist Louise Noel for a one day journey into the brilliant and joyous realm of silk painting. Students have the option to paint a LONG 54x8 scarf or a SQUARE 21 x 21 scarf. Louise guides students using the Serti (closed fence method of silk painting). An assortment of patterns is available for students to choose from. We will use various resists...dive into vibrant color, play with surface treatments, use alcohol and salt to create texture and movement. Students may not finish during the time allotted, but all supplies (paints, frames, etc) are yours to keep and finish at home. Steam setting will be provided after scarves are completed (Louise provides an envelope to send the scarves to her if you are finishing at home) so that you can proudly wear or display your art. Patterns (including holiday designs, are provided to assist the students in design. ✨

**Included in the class price- the student also goes home with the stretcher, additional scarf and inks to make a second scarf!

We are getting late enough in the year, we are having our “last of 2026” workshops coming up!

This weekend, we have our final Mixed Media double header of 2026 with Donna Smit (unless we get private party interest closer to Christmas). We planned this double header with holiday decor in mind...including Halloween! Donna has an abundance of materials to create holiday magic- from Halloween 🎃 and Fall 🍁, to Christmas🎄 and more. Not wanting holiday themed? Donna will have all of her regular embellishments including a recent influx of baubles and beads donated to the studio!

Susan and Bernd Handau went big at RTIA this year and it paid off! They sold several of the paintings in the first picture. If you were looking to add to your collection on a smaller scale, Copper Cat Studio has several pieces of theirs- 8x8s, 16x20s and 12x12.

Come see these beauties in person at Copper Cat Studio. We are located at 300 Kresge Lane in Sparks between Glendale and Greg off McCarran. We are open Tuesdays- Wednesdays-Thursdays 11am-4pm, Fridays-Saturdays 11-3pm and by appointment. We represent over 25 local artisans in just about as many mediums. Our small giftshop is carefully curated and is not supplemented with buy & sell items from market. Everything you see at Copper Cat Studio is lovingly handmade by local and regional artists.

One of my favorite parts of doing a show is picking out a little reminder of the weekend. The only time to really get a good look at the art for an exhibitor is to come early before the front door is open. As I made my rounds each morning, I kept making my way back to Kelly Louise Allen’s booth. On Sunday morning, I finally met her and let her know that I had been stalking her all weekend 😆 She followed me back to my booth and found something she couldn’t live without either…and the trade was made. It appears we are drawn to the same color palette!

The one silver lining of being evacuated for the Hawk fire was having the excuse to rearrange all of my art on the walls. (you know that and my pottery were the first things to be loaded up behind the cats). So these two pieces came along at just the perfect time to add in as I am finishing up rehanging everything.

✨ That has been something very special over the last month- revisiting the memories of artists I’ve met and shows that I’ve done as I clean and place all of the art back into my home. I really have had a charmed life to meet so many wonderful, creative people on my journey.
