To anyone new here.... I’m Tace! I’ve been a Pilates instructor for over 10 plus years now, working in different Melbourne studios and also opening my own private boutique studio in Brighton 6 years ago which then grew into a bigger space in Elwood 3.5 years ago.

I’m 47years old and I’ve been navigating the fun changes of life that comes with active perimenopause for the past 7 years, including being HRT for 6 of those. It’s been quite the journey, and I’ve learnt a lot along the way including understanding how important strength training is to stay strong and feel good as my body changes. As a result, my big focus in the studio is around training to get stronger - what ever strong means to each individual!

When I’m not training, I love traveling, sipping wine, eating seafood, and just soaking up all the good vibes with my hubby James. We’ve got the cutest fur baby named George, who you’ll definitely get to meet and snuggle in the studio, and he will also make the odd appearance on socials too. I’m also a big 2000’s baggers fan (hello nostalgia!) but love playing all kinds of tunes to keep us pumped and moving in the studio - requests are always welcome.

Honestly, I absolutely love my job because I get to help others hit their goals and feel fabulous through movement. What’s not to love about that! taken in Elwood, Melbourne by @core_project_pilates

Change can feel uncomfortable, but making space for something better often means being willing to leave something behind to try soemthing new.

In training, in movement and in life, growth requires change.

Some things need to end, so better things can begin. 🤍 by @core_project_pilates

Our Senior Trainer, Janette, taking us through an advanced flow. 🔥

It might look effortless, but this sequence demands an incredible amount of full-body control, strength and focus.

She is challenging core stability, balance, mobility and endurance, while working anti-rotation and anti-lateral flexion to control the movement from start to finish.

While Janette makes it look so easy, there’s a lot happening underneath the surface! Hip control, internal and external obliques, QL, transverse abdominis, glutes and shoulder stabilisers all working together.

This is Pilates at an advanced level: controlled, intentional movement that requires serious strength.

And you make it look so easy Janette!! 👀 by @core_project_pilates

Training for a run? Don’t forget about strength and stability work alongside your running 🏃🏼‍♀️

I’ve been working with @core_project_pilates to build muscular endurance and support my running goals, with a big focus on the muscles that help keep me stable and controlled when I run.

Each session is one-on-one with Tace, using the reformer as the centre of a personalised workout tailored to my goals, strengths and weaknesses.

Some of the key things we’ve been working on:
• Single-leg balance and control
• Stability and stabiliser muscles
• Core strength and endurance

As a runner, it’s a great reminder that your training doesn’t have to stop when you step off the track. Building strength and control is an important part of supporting your running goals, too.

If you’re keen to give it a go, follow @core_project_pilates and DM Tace mentioning this post to receive $20 off your introductory session.

STEAL MY LESSON PLAN 🔥

Here is my lower-body strength session built using a combination of progressive overload, supersets and muscular endurance.

This session includes;
• RDLs with a hamstring + glute focus. Resistance on the bed with dumbell load - 3 rounds of 12, increasing the load each round
• Heavy kickbacks paired with the RDL worked as a compound superset
• Quad-focused antagonistic supersets with knee stretches + loaded front squats with a half-rep pulse added
• Single-leg loaded knee stretches paired with heavy suitcase squats
• A final strength endurance-based Pilates lunge finisher - taking the legs all the way to failure 🔥

The aim throughout was to build strength while working through different training adaptations. Strength, hypertrophy and muscular endurance.

As always, adjust the load, reps and intensity to suit the ability of the person in front of you.

This session was programmed for an intermediate/advanced level.
Save it, steal it and make it your own. 😉 by @core_project_pilates

MINIMUM WEEKLY PLAN 👇🏼

You don’t need to train every day to get stronger, move better and see progress.

The goal isn’t to cram as many sessions into your week as possible. It’s about finding the minimum amount of training you can consistently commit to, and making those sessions count.

A good weekly plan should include enough strength work to challenge your muscles, enough movement to keep you mobile, and enough recovery to actually allow your body to adapt.

Consistency will always beat the occasional week where you try to do everything.

So if life is busy, don’t throw the whole week away because you can’t fit in five sessions. Start with your minimum, make it happen, and build from there.

Less can still be effective when it’s done consistently. 💪🏼 by @core_project_pilates

RIB TO HIP CONNECTION 🤌🏼

One of those Pilates cues you’ll hear again and again, but what are we actually looking for?

The rib-to-hip connection is about creating a strong relationship andf connection between your rib cage and pelvis, helping you find better core control and stability throughout your movement.

Think of gently drawing the front ribs towards the hips without popping out the rip cage. This helps you maintain your alignment while keeping the deep core engaged.

It’s not about forcing your ribs down or holding your breath, it’s about finding connection, control and efficient movement.

Next time you hear “ribs to hips”, think less about the cue and more about how your body feels when you find it. 👀 by @core_project_pilates

You don’t build strength by wishing for it. You build it by showing up, putting in the work and staying consistent.

The progress might not always be obvious from one session to the next, but every rep, every challenge and every workout adds up.

At TCP, we’re not chasing quick fixes. We’re building strength with purpose, one session at a time.

You get what you work for. So keep showing up. 💪 by @core_project_pilates

Core strength is vital to all training moves. It provides balance and stability and also protects us from injury. Core strength determines how well you move, control your body and how you can support your movements - every day.

At TCP we use the fundamental practices of Pilates, with the theory of strength training, to build strength, improve mobility and challenge balance and control. We work on the large muscles and the smaller supporting stabilising muscles to make you stronger, but one of our biggest focuses is always the core (it's in our name, and its every session we do!) Your core strength is essential for posture, balance, finding stability and balance, and is super functional supporting daily movements inside and outside of the studio!

Here are the guys of TCP showing you how their core strength helps them balance and support them as they move, whether its when they train their legs, butt or their stomach! 👀 by @core_project_pilates

Our fabulous, Senior Trainer, Kat is demonstrating three levels/progressions of the same movement showing how we tailor each exercise depending on your body, strength, confidence and experience level.

At TCP, every session is uniquely designed around the individual and through structuring and offering different levels and progressions, we will continue to build your strength as you get stronger! The goal is never to force your body into the hardest version straight away. It is to meet you at your level now, build strong foundations, and progress safely with care over time - while it may feel it never gets easier, you will get stronger! After 45, strength training is so important, but how you train is equally as important!

It becomes less about lifting the heaviest weight possible and more about how you move, how you recover, and how you build muscle - as muscle is so important as we age.

Keep in mind the following when you are strength training, however you like to get it done;
- controlled movement
- progressive overload
- good technique
- mobility
- enough recovery to keep you training consistently.

At The Core Project, we’re all about building strength with purpose. Your training should challenge you, but it should also help you move better, feel stronger and keep you doing the things you love.

Because staying stronger really does keep us younger. 💪 by @core_project_pilates
