I called the Rolex Explorer the most boring watch in the world. Now I can’t stop thinking about it. This already happened once — I wanted a Tudor Pelagos FXD, couldn’t swing it, bought a Tactical Frog FXD homage instead. And I love that thing.

So now I’ve got my eye on the Smiths Everest, the Explorer homage. Cheap way to find out if the itch is real.

If someone asked me where to start a watch collection, I’d hand them these three and call it done.
A field watch with real heritage.
A solar diver that’ll outlive us all. #And the Seiko with the Eastern Arabic dial — the one that started a lot of collections, mine included.
None of them will impress a snob.
All of them will still be running in 20 years.
That’s the whole philosophy here: buy what you love, story over status.
