Two weekends. Dozens of studios. One extraordinary peninsula.
Every year, across the first two weekends of October, the Coromandel Arts Tour opens the doors of working artists’ studios in one of New Zealand’s most creatively rich regions.

Walk into the spaces where the work is actually made. Meet the painters, potters, jewellers, printmakers, sculptors, and textile artists who call the Coromandel home, and discover the stories, tools, and processes behind each piece. Watch a work in progress. Ask the questions you’d never get to ask anywhere else.

You are invited to wander at your own pace—map in hand—through studios tucked into hillsides, coastal gardens, and in the heart of Coromandel Town. Take your time browsing original work available to purchase directly from the artists who made it.

Between studios, soak up everything Coromandel Town has to offer: its heritage buildings, its harbour, its cafés and characters. The tour is as much about experiencing the place as it is the art. by @coromind

Is the gorge open yet? 👀

If you know, you know.

Karangahake Gorge is one of those places where a bit of rain can quickly change the plan — so check the latest track conditions before you head off exploring.

👉 Check DOC for current track updates, and NZTA for road conditions.

Then grab your shoes, camera and a little sense of adventure 😎 by @coromind

A mission through the Coromandel 🥾🌿

We headed into the Kauaeranga Valley near Thames to tackle the Billy Goat Track and find the massive Billygoat Falls. From there, we made our way up towards the Pinnacles, following old tracks that were once used during the kauri logging days.

After reaching the Pinnacles summit at 759 m, we took in the views across the Coromandel before making our way back down. Along the way, we stopped to check out the historic kauri dams and remnants of the old logging routes hidden throughout the bush.

💧 Billygoat Falls — 180 m

A pretty epic day exploring a part of the Coromandel with plenty of history behind it 🇳🇿⛰️

And honestly, we’re glad they did!

One person’s trash is another person’s treasure. Right?

In a world where we’re constantly encouraged to buy more, newer and better, Wāhi Tukurua is doing something different – giving things that might otherwise be thrown away a second life.

From building materials and furniture to all those bits and pieces that still have plenty of life left in them, they’re keeping useful resources out of landfill and putting them back into the community ♻️💚

And now, after years of hard work, planning and patience, Wāhi Tukurua is moving towards something even bigger – a new Building and Construction Resource Recovery Facility alongside the new Refuse Transfer Station in Whitianga.

More space. More resources. More opportunities to reuse, recover and share the mahi.

We reckon that’s something worth celebrating 🙌
