A mission through the Coromandel 🥾🌿

We headed into the Kauaeranga Valley near Thames to tackle the Billy Goat Track and find the massive Billygoat Falls. From there, we made our way up towards the Pinnacles, following old tracks that were once used during the kauri logging days.

After reaching the Pinnacles summit at 759 m, we took in the views across the Coromandel before making our way back down. Along the way, we stopped to check out the historic kauri dams and remnants of the old logging routes hidden throughout the bush.

A pretty epic day exploring a part of the Coromandel with plenty of history behind it 🇳🇿⛰️

We’re building an anagama kiln at Driving Creek.
And we need your help to make it happen.

An anagama is a traditional Japanese style wood fired kiln that burns continuously for days. It’s a pretty big project, but one we’re incredibly excited about.
With around 65 artists coming through our free residency programme each year, we’re seeing a growing interest in wood firing. This kiln would give resident artists even more opportunities to explore it, while opening the door for visiting potters from Aotearoa and around the world to come and fire, teach and share their knowledge here at Driving Creek.

We’re raising $15,000 through PledgeMe to get the build underway, with a bigger goal of $30,000 to fully fund the project.
There are some very special pottery rewards up for grabs, including pieces from Aaron Scythe - @godinc247 , Callum Trudgeon - @callum_trudgeon_pottery and the DCR pottery team, made for the first firing of the new kiln.

If you love pottery, wood firing or Driving Creek, we’d love to have you behind this one.

Head to the link in our bio to check out the project, see the rewards and help us get this kiln built. #pottery #drivingcreek #pledgeme #DCRanagamaproject
