A new series this week exploring the quotes for Visions of Whence Vol. II 🌞 For this new book, I reached out to a number of artists who I greatly admire and have learned so much from over the years. These folks were kind enough to preview the new book and lend me some lines for the back cover. And I am forever in their debt. 🌿 We conclude this weeklong series with one of the best ever to do it and one of my best friends, @mouseguard ! “Cory Godbey is a master illustrator who gifts us glimpses of a time and place between dreams. Crafting the familiarity of fairy tale folklore with something uniquely magical and ethereal all his own.” David Petersen, creator of the New York Times Bestselling, Eisner & Harvey Award-winning series Mouse Guard. His work for Magic: The Gathering is, of course, legendary, but his personal work is what has truly stolen my heart. Visions of Whence Vol. II is sure to be full of all the forest-dwelling dragons, mossy beasts, and glorious unicorns an art-lover like myself could possibly desire.” Devin Elle Kurtz, award-winning writer, illustrator, and creator of The Bakery Dragon. Cory is giving us that rare opportunity to discover his world, Whence. With every pencil mark and stroke of his brush Cory shows us what it means to be a masterful storyteller. From rough thumbnails to detailed art it is a book which takes you on an adventure into imagination, it is an endless source of inspiration and lights a fire in you heart. What an incredible honour to be given a glimpse into Whence.” Iris Compiet, award-winning fantasy illustrator and creator of Faeries of the Faultlines. An ancient woodland aura emanates from each page of his sketchbook, that can only be found in long-forgotten forests and cherished fairytale books from long ago. His masterful drawings bring to mind those visionaries from that luminous age such as Arthur Rackham, John Bauer, and Gustaf Tenggren. In our modern world of dazzling technological invention, I am captivated by a true wizard like Cory, conjuring wonder and magic with nothing more than pencil and paper.” Tony DiTerlizzi, author & illustrator of the WondLa trilogy and cocreator of The Spiderwick, Chronicles series.
