This is Danny, Julian's son, speaking on behalf of Gemma (Julian's daughter), and Caroline (Julian's partner).

We are completely heartbroken to announce the sad loss of this beautiful man, our heroic Julio. Most widely known for his incredibly impressive and broad career working in Irish and International theatre; to us, he was a loving father, a kind and generous friend, a steadfast confidante, a boldly adventurous companion and one of the funniest, warmest, wisest humans you could be lucky enough to know.

We will never get over losing him. And it's hard to not be angry at the cruelty
of him being robbed of his latter years, just as he was beginning to thrive after the loss of his beloved wife Anita. But Julian, in a final demonstration of his innate wisdom and incredible ability to accept, led us through his all too brief 512 days from diagnosis, choosing the mantra 'Amor Fati', 'embrace your fate'. He told us that he knew be didn't have a lot of time, and he didn't want to spend it being angry. Instead, he spent it loving us and those around him.
