Welcome to the Southern California University of Health Sciences (SCUHS) COTAD chapter page! We are thrilled to announce the official launch of our chapter and the beginning of our activities.

At SCU COTAD, we are committed to advancing COTAD's mission of addressing societal occupational needs through the development of a socioculturally diverse workforce. Our focus is on preparing future health care professionals to provide culturally sensitive and client-centered services.

Through our chapter, we aim to create opportunities for open dialogue, raise awareness of diverse lived experiences, and foster cultural humility within our community. We provide a safe space for students to engage in discussions on current events, explore unconscious biases, and understand the impact of culture on health and wellness.

Additionally, SCU COTAD is dedicated to equipping students with the necessary skills to become inclusive educators and practitioners in the health sciences field. We strive to empower today's student leaders to advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion within the health sciences profession and beyond. This Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate Dr. Alison M. Rangel, OTD, OTR/L, a leader who is making occupational therapy more inclusive for practitioners and the communities they serve.
✨ Chair of TODOS: Network of Hispanic/Latine OT Practitioners & Students, building community and visibility for Latine voices in OT
✨ AOTA Multicultural, Diversity & Inclusion Network representative, advocating for diverse perspectives at the national level
✨ Built nationwide mentorship programs that connect students and new practitioners with guidance and support
✨ Created pathways for underrepresented scholars to enter and advance in the profession
✨ COTAD member, part of the Coalition of Occupational Therapy Advocates for Diversity
✨ Equity-focused scholar whose work advances systemic equity across OT
