To us, family means putting your arms around each other and being there. ~Barbara Bush . What a really sweet visit we had with our daughter for a couple of days. No TV, and very little phone time. We cooked comfort food, lingered long at the table, and talked, a lot. We relaxed on the back porch morning and evening, by the fire, enjoying our fall weather, the beautiful view, and talked more. We played cards, a lot.☺️ We walked down to visit with my Mom, her Nan. We listened to music, and ate pie. Slow living at its best. More fall days like this. We have been gathering the fruits of the season’s work into the barns and bins and cellars. The harvest has been abundant, and a good supply is stored away in our hearts and souls and minds from our year’s activities. ~Laura Ingalls Wilder . Even with planting late this year, we had plenty of harvests to stock our freezer and our pantry. Other than more tomatoes and more okra, this is our last harvest. As the weather cools we will do some canning, cook and freeze our pumpkins, and do more baking. Don’t spur of the moment decisions often turn out to be the best!
