🎃🖤 SPOOKY SPOTLIGHT: JOE HILL 🖤🎃

Some authors write horror. Joe Hill makes you question why you ever thought reading before bed was a good idea. 💀📚

This week on Spooky Spotlight, we’re shining a light on TWO absolute 5-STAR READS: NOS4A2 and King Sorrow. 🩸🐉

🩸 NOS4A2 — A twisted, nightmarish ride that gave me everything I want from horror. Creepy, unsettling, and the kind of story that crawls into your brain and refuses to leave. SIX STARS IF I COULD.

🐉 King Sorrow — Dark, ambitious, and packed with the kind of sinister magic that makes you question just how far people will go when they want something badly enough. A monster of a book in the best possible way.

Joe Hill has officially earned a spot on our must-read-everything list. If you like your stories dark, your nightmares vivid, and your fiction a little unhinged… add these to your TBR. 🖤

👇 Have you read either of these? Which Joe Hill book should we pick up next?

🎃📚 SPOOKY SPOTLIGHT: ADAM CESARE 🔪🩸

Welcome to our very first Spooky Spotlight here at Couple of Booknerds, where we’re shining a light on the authors who know exactly how to get under your skin. 👀

And who better to kick things off than Adam Cesare?! 🖤

If you’re looking for horror that delivers blood, chaos, nostalgia, and the kind of stories that make you question why you’re reading with the lights off, consider this your sign.

Adam Cesare is an absolute must-read for spooky season, and with so many titles to dive into, your October TBR is about to get a little more unhinged. 🎃

So far, I’ve read Video Night, Zero Lives Remaining, and Clown in a Cornfield and I’m officially adding more Cesare to my ever-growing pile of questionable decisions. 🔪🤡

If slasher horror, bloody mayhem, and nostalgic nightmares are your thing, Adam Cesare belongs on your spooky season reading list.

Now tell us… have you read Adam Cesare? And which book should we pick up next? 👀📚

🩸 Stay spooky, book nerds. We’re just getting started ...

This week's Book and Brew:

Book - Empire of the Vampire by @misterkristoff
Brew - Canned Carnival by Tripping Animals Brewing company

Best part was I started this book while standing in line for the Sinners house down in Halloween Horror Nights. The brew works so well with this book. I am absolutely loving this book so far!

🍂📚 October Hopefuls 📚🍂

Another month of pretending we don’t already have enough books… while adding just a few more to the TBR. 🤡

Ally wants creepy, spooky weirdness, horror & emotional damage. 🖤
Derek wants epic adventures, vampires, Fungi, space & people making questionable decisions. ⚔️🚀

Somehow, we meet in the middle… usually over coffee, a shared bookshelf, and the argument of “who picked this book?” 😂

These are our October hopefuls the books we hope make it off the TBR before November rolls around and we inevitably fall in love with more books.

So tell us… which one should we read first? 👀📖

Book Review:

Wolf Worm by T. Kingfisher

Ally read it awhile ago and T. Kingfisher is one of Ally's auto-buy authors. She told me I would probably really enjoy this due to all the science in it. Well she wasn't wrong. But this is more than entomology (study of bugs) and has a good creepiness vibe in it. Perfect for the spooky season.

Have you read this? Will this be added to your TBR?

Sometimes you got to get out of the phone/book and just look up. Throughout Barcelona, Sevilla and Madrid we did this. Getting to see the world with my better half was the best thing ever.

A little late at posting pics from the trip but mostly because it was hard to narrow it down to which ones to use. Here are some from our time in France 🇫🇷. We travelled to Paris, Avignon, Nice and a day trip to Monaco.

We had such an amazing time in France. @medsnmessyhair @coupleofbooknerds

Here is my review of The Demon Star by @jva_writes

This is a debut novel that is sci-fi/horror/fantasy. It was a fantastic debut. If you like any of those genres you should check it out.

Book and Brew!

My current read The Demon Star by @jva_writes which I'm a little more than halfway done and it's a Cosmic Horror is what I've heard people call it. But it has elements of a fantasy book too.

As for the brew it's Big Pulp by @magnifybrewing which is a Smoothie Sour beer and it tastes just like juice. It has mango, peach and pineapple flavors with some tang in there. Absolutely delicious.
