2️⃣ Part 2: If Prop. 40, 41, and 42 pass, the proposition with the most votes will go into effect.

In this two-part series, we're breaking down 4 ballot measures related to wealth taxation in California: Prop. 3, 40, 41, & 42.

Billionaires in California are outspending the Yes on Prop. 40 campaign 5 to 1 to stop the one-time 5% tax on Californians with over $1 billion in wealth and assets.

👉🏽 Prop. 40 is a direct response to the $100 billion in federal cuts to healthcare made by Congress, many of which won’t go into effect until after the midterms. And despite knowing about these cuts for over 2 years, California lawmakers haven’t put forward any legislative proposal to fully fill this gap. Now, it's up to voters.

Your California General Election ballot has 14 propositions you get to vote on, and it’s time to show billionaires, big oil, and MAGA Republicans that we can Bring It On! when it comes to fighting them on the ballot.

Courage California hosted a virtual ballot party with our partners to give Californians the rundown on what’s on the ballot.

This event featured emcee and drag activist Lil Miss Hot Mess (@lilmisshotmess), Courage California, Black Women for Wellness Action Project (@bww_actionproject), Chispa (@chispa.oc), Communities for a New California Action Fund (@cncactionfund ), and NextGen Politics (@ngpcalifornia).

To hear from our partners, representatives from the propositions you see on your ballot, and learn more about what’s on your ballot, you can watch the recording at: bit.ly/CC-BringItOn (link in bio)

1️⃣ Part 1: Proposition 3 on the California ballot is getting overlooked, even though this tax is already in effect and set to expire soon.

In this two-part series, we're breaking down 4 ballot measures related to wealth taxation in California: Prop. 3, 40, 41, & 42.

👉🏽 Prop. 3 would make permanent a tax on higher earners in California that has funded public education by $120 million over 10 years. The tax was first passed by voters in 2012, then extended in 2016 until 2030.

Prop. 3 would impact single filers who make $361k a year or more, and joint filers who make $721k a year or more.

➕ And stick around for part 2, where we will go more in-depth on Proposition 40, the billionaire tax, and Prop. 41 and 42, which were designed to stop Prop. 40 and future wealth taxes.

🔔 Remind your friends and family to return their ballots EARLY. Here is how the Courage California Institute recommends you return your November general election ballot ⬇️:

1️⃣ Ballots must be postmarked by November 3, 2026, in order to be counted. We recommend you mail your ballot no later than October 27 to ensure your ballot is postmarked before that deadline.

2️⃣ From October 28 through November 3, drop off your ballot in person at a polling place, official drop box, or vote center.

🗳️ We're debunking California's Proposition 39 in under 3 minutes. Here are the facts:

California already verifies citizenship and identity when:

1️⃣ you register to vote

2️⃣ you vote for the first time in a federal election after registering to vote without providing your ID or SSN

3️⃣ the signature on your ballot is verified against the signature on your ID before it is counted

National and state data continue to show that voter fraud is extremely rare.

California's younger and Latino voters would be most impacted by voter ID laws.

California's wealthiest corporate executives and out-of-state billionaires are pouring millions into the Yes on Prop. 39 campaign to influence your vote.
