Now available @mclennon_pen_co_ 𝒦𝒶𝓁𝑒𝒾𝒹𝑜𝓈𝒸𝑜𝓅𝑒 𝒦𝓃𝑜𝓉𝓉𝑒𝒹 is a translation of my dripping, atmospheric paintings into textile artwork. Cascades of color are reimagined in layered Tibetan wool and luminous Chinese silk, shifting between matte depth and light-catching as you move and interact with the piece.

Using imagery from one of my favorite paintings, the creative process began in collaboration with @coutureknot where I selected each individual color thread, pile thickness, and the percentage of wool versus silk in each section to achieve the desired texture, saturation and depth for each shape and overall composition.

The final piece was then ethically handwoven in Nepal in a 150-knot Tibetan construction; the 8’ × 10’ piece holds over 1.7 million individually hand tied knots - which is A LOT of knots.

I loved making this work because it opened up new ways to imagine and experience my paintings and materials, but also because this project is a testament to the labor, skill, and time that artisans embed in textiles.

Last month was truly a Surreal month. Couture Knots was recognized by so many publications. My rugs are just the supporting cast for the work of amazing Interior Designers I call friends and colleagues. This collaborative team effort is the product of the creativity and work of Rug brands, weavers, designers, photographers, clients, magazines, and many others. Earlier this year, Wendy and Gregor travelled to North Carolina, in the United States, as part of an event with rug specialist @coutureknot

Held at the home of Couture Knots’ owner, Ali Nikrooz, the aim was for the US stockist to showcase the UK designers he works with. Wendy was tasked with choosing several of her own designs to style up three rooms in the house.
