Matched to PGY2 Ambulatory Care at the University of Illinois Chicago🎉❤️

The last few months have been an emotional roller coaster and probably the hardest time in my life - from not getting an early commit position at my current program, mentally preparing to go through the match again while still managing PGY1 and longitudinal projects, and so many other factors. However, I’ve done so much self reflection and felt that I’ve grown tremendously through this whole process. I can’t wait to continue growing personally and professionally throughout PGY2❤️

And special thanks to all my friends and co-residents who have emotionally supported me through it all. So sad to leave UC Davis but will cherish my connections and friendships here forever❤️

I am also excited to reunite with @twistandshaot and other pharm friends who matched in Chicago🥰 and just to top it off- SO EXCITED that @deepali_bh is my co-resident. We met in a PGY1 virtual interview and now here we are going to the same PGY2😭

Congrats to all who matched today and good luck to those going through phase 2! taken in Chicago, Illinois by @cpan.pharmd

I matched at my #1 ranked program, University of California Davis Medical Center😭😭😭 Since freshman year, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in the ambulatory care setting and practice pharmacy in a progressive state, such as California. Matching at a residency program has been a dream of mine and now it’s come true😭 Thank you so much to my friends, family, professors/pharmacists/preceptors for the past 6 years and especially the last few months. And also special thanks to all the amazing people I’ve met through Instagram. I couldn’t have done it without all the support and love❤️ I’m so ecstatic to start residency and join such a supportive and nurturing pharmacy team!!!💊🥰 Excited to call Sacramento home for the next year :)

I’m a clinical pharmacist who helps those living with diabetes, obesity, sleep apnea, and more start and manage their GLP-1/weight management medications ! I have a hybrid in person/WFH schedule, work 8am-4:30pm, and thought it’d be “fun” to show a very average (honestly quite boring) day. When I’m more proactive I’ll have social plans in the evenings😅

Maybe I’ll make an in person work day edition! The biggest difference is I run at the gym or outside if it’s not too hot after work bc I cannot wake up early enough to run and shower before work lol

If you’re interested in trying @drinkmagna , go to https://www.drinkmagna.com/CPANRUNSANDEATS for 29% off the starter kit subscriptions only and for first-time orders only!! (Link in my bio)

(@costco plz sponsor me, I buy creatine and Greek yogurt and protein shakes and everything from u😭)

The other week, my coworker and I volunteered with Team NM @northwesternmedicine and @cmaachicago ! We spoke with high school students and discussed our career paths, what our days look like, pharmacy school and education, and more alongside medical students. The students asked such good questions (thoughts about AI, drawbacks of weight loss medications, cost of school, and more) and I was so impressed.

I used to volunteer more in high school and pharmacy school, and I did a few mentoring events here and there. I haven’t done one in a longggg time but this experience was so rewarding, I think I’ll make time to seek out more events like this :’)

✨some work and life updates!!✨

I haven’t been as active on this account post-residency (spending too much time on my food/running insta instead LOL) but here are some life updates!!

💉👩🏻‍⚕️in fall 2025, I transitioned from my inflam (GI/rheum/derm) role into a GLP-1 role! So now I am assisting a primary care and weight loss clinic with med counseling, medication dose titrations, managing side effects, med access/insurance issues, and more

🏃🏻‍♀️💨sorta fell into my running hobby too hard and I ran Chicago marathon in Oct 2025, my first marathon!! It was an incredible experience and I raised money for @amdiabetesassn (American Diabetes Association). Currently training for Tokyo marathon in March 2026 aka a lot of long treadmill runs in Chicago winter🥶

🏙️went to Vegas in early Dec 2025 for Midyear conference!! I helped recruit for our residency program. Went back to Vegas later that month with my parents and we explored Death Valley which is close to Vegas

🎻still in the Northwestern Medical Orchestra!! My fave parts of it are the friends I made and our concert we have for patients and the community

😋still trying so many restaurants and bakeries in Chicago, I love this foodie city!!

Upcoming life events
- China/Japan trip!!🇨🇳🇯🇵With the Tokyo marathon in the middle of it! Saved so much of my PTO for this lol
- My bf’s medical match day in March😮
- more marathons and running to come lolol by @cpan.pharmd

Ok I already posted a 2016 throwback carousel on my running/food insta but had to post a smaller one here too😂

The year is 2016: you finally decide to enroll in UConn’s 6 year PharmD program (a very stressful decision for a 17-year-old lol), graduate high school, enjoy the last “free” summer traveling with family and hanging out with friends, start college and meet so many new people, join a co-ed pharmacy frat (shout out @alpha_zeta_omega @azo_nu), stress out about bio 1107 and chem 2243 (I actually don’t remember the numbers lol) exams, successfully finish first semester of freshman year with lots of fun memories 🥰 by @cpan.pharmd

Happy (last day) of Pharmacy Week!!!!❤️

Featuring photos from volunteering with my department yesterday (drug take back day, distributing narcan and explaining what narcan is to the public) and other photos from our department’s spirit week!!! So grateful for every pharmacist, pharmacy technician, resident, and student I have ever worked with💕 a lot of pharmacy’s work is done behind the scenes and may not be recognized all the time, but as I continue my career, the more I see how many people, other healthcare professionals and the public, appreciate our work. From navigating insurance issues to identifying drug interactions, we are amazing!!!

Was inspired by @joanathepa ‘s post and here I am making my own monthly spending reel!! TBD if I will keep doing this lol. August was my most expensive month this year, mainly since I bought plane tickets to Asia, plane tickets home for Christmas, ate my heart out in NYC, and ate my heart out again when friends visited Chicago😂 also would like to highlight that Chicago is a beautiful affordable city and you can find great rent here!!

** disclaimer: this doesn’t include how much I put aside for retirement/savings ** taken in Chicago, Illinois by @cpan.pharmd

How I Studied for the BCACP Exam

This is a really niche/specific post but here are my tips for studying and passing the BCACP (Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist) certification exam! It was really hard for me but I did it! In order to be eligible for this test, in the past 7 years, you can either have:

- At least 4 years of Ambulatory Care practice experience after licensure/registration as a pharmacist
- Successful completion of a PGY1 pharmacy residency plus at least 2 years of ambulatory care pharmacy practice experience
- Or successful completion of a PGY2 ambulatory care pharmacy residency

What I did:

- I used the ACCP/ASHP BCACP prep package! It came with a 1300+ page PDF booklet with tons of practice questions and answers, a full practice exam, videos and CE credit with each chapter; I made sure to do all the questions and review all the answer explanations
- I studied for around 3 months but honestly can’t really say how many hours I studied each week. I did a bulk of studying on the weekends and tried to do 1-2 hours on weekdays after work. And of course I also had some really busy weekends where i didn’t study at all!
- Made flashcards for things that made sense (ex: billing codes, statistical tests, etc)

What I wish I did/other tips:

- Make sure you know your big amb care disease states (DM, HTN, HLD, asthma, COPD, HF), biostatistics, and billing codes well!! This is the bulk of the exam
- I wish I studied intensely for 2 months instead of 3 months. I actually took a practice test 1 month before my exam and (barely) passed. But the third month of studying realllyyy dragged on and I wish I had just taken it earlier
- I made too many specific flashcards/Quizlet sets! I wanted to make Quizlets so I could do them during down time on public transport but some were definitely too detailed
- The exam costs $600; ask your employer if they can reimburse this fee or if your salary will be increased after passing! You will also need to do CE credits and pay annual fees to keep your certification
- Honestly…. I personally think luck plays a role as well, as most things do!

Long time no post👀 Around 1.5 months ago, I gave a lecture on atopic dermatitis and psoriasis to Northwestern University PA students! During my PGY2 at UIC, I gave lectures to pharmacy students, so I was excited I had the opportunity to lecture for other healthcare professional students (and first time lecturing on dermatology disease states!)

The lectures I created/edited are mostly all based from the updated American Academy of Dermatology guidelines. Because this was a pharmacology lecture, the bulk of the presentation was about the drug therapies (topicals, oral meds, injectable biologic therapies). This was also a good refresher for me about topics like clinical presentation, diagnosis, phototherapy (things I don’t need to know as well as a pharmacist). I discussed a bit about med access (cost, insurance issues) and some more practical tips. I brought some sample demo pens too and the students seemed to love playing around with those. I’m just also impressed no one slept through this 8am lecture🤭

Excited for future opportunities that may come my way :) comment below if you’re familiar with any of the biologic treatments used for derm disease states! by @cpan.pharmd
