Tokyo Marathon✅ Our second world major marathon, our first one as fiancées🤩

Tom always wanted to run Tokyo Marathon and got in through charity option. Then I thought “why don’t I just enter the lottery for fun”, and by some miracle, my name was drawn!! What a beautiful (and painful lol) sightseeing and cultural experience we’ve had running through an amazing city filled with kind people❤️ Tokyo, we’ll be back!!

My first marathon (and first world major)✅🥺

My life quite literally changed when I moved to Chicago a little over 2 years ago. Thank you, Chicago, for making me fall in love with running and showing me that I am mentally and physically capable of more than I ever imagined. Official time: 4:37:28🏅

But most importantly, thank you to everyone who’s supported me virtually and in person during my training block, my friends (and so many kind strangers) for cheering their hearts out on the course, my family for driving 14 hours from CT to support me and Tom, the generous donors who helped me raise $2,886 for @am.diabetes_illinois (a feat I originally thought to be impossible), the amazing @chimarathon volunteers, and of course Tom who stuck by my side every moment of the marathon even though he’s much faster❤️

Can’t wait to party for 26.2 miles again next year (cough cough do the @chidistanceseries and you become automatically qualified for the Chicago marathon the following year!!)

Hi everyone! My name’s Christine and I’m turning this foodie page into a running AND foodie page, because what better way to show my love for running and the yummy things I’m eating?!🤪

I’m originally from the northeast, lived in California for one year, and have been living in Chicago for the past 2 years so most of my content is based in the beautiful city of Chicago (shoutout to the lakefront trail and the amazing foodie scene here).

I competitively swam in high school and HATED running from a young age (I’ve always loved eating from a young age though hehe) ; in elementary school, I was always one of the last few people to finish the mile in gym class and my dad used to make me practice running before the school mile LOL. I always said I was allergic to doing anything on land (except hot girl walks) and that’s why I stuck to swimming.

But when I moved to Chicago summer of 2023, I absolutely fell IN LOVE with the city and the lakefront. I’ll describe more about my running journey in Chicago in a later post but fast forward two years later and I have ran 3 half marathons, two 15k races, and two 8k races. And this summer, I’ve been training for the Chicago Marathon , my first marathon and first world major AHH!!! Which is happening in 3 weeks! I recently also found out I was selected through the lottery to run Tokyo Marathon in March 2026 (AHHH again!!), my second world major!

I’m excited to continue sharing my running and foodie journeys; thanks for following along!

Met some running celebs last weekend!!! I met THE @coachbennett at the @chimarathon starting line, what an amazing surprise!!!

I manifested my marathon goal time of sub 4:30!!!! And when I say manifest …. I mean I worked really hard and ran hundreds of miles this summer and did three 20-21 mile runs and rly pushed my body to its limits lololol

At the @bankofamerica half marathon in June, I barely got my goal of sub 2 hrs with just 4 hours of sleep and hot weather. And I knew that I wanted and probably could get sub 4:30 at @chimarathon so I wrote my goal down on the back of my Polaroid and put my mind to it!!

For context my other two marathon times were around 4:37 and 4:44!! But still shaving off 12-13 mins took a lotttt of work😭 I truly felt much better than I expected during this race!! And that’s on growth🥰

Chicago Distance Series 2026✅

The best way to get into @chimarathon is by completing the @chidistanceseries !! This was my 2nd year completing it and I just signed up for the marathon in 2027!!🎉 The @chishuffle 8k is in March (the whole city looks like a sea of runners in green), the half marathon is in June, and of course the marathon is in October. The shamrock shuffle and HM are both fun courses and so worth doing!! They’re getting more and more popular each year; registration is already open and we already signed up last month😂 Compared to NYC’s 9+1 series, this is much easier to do if you’re local

@bankofamerica had cute Polaroid stations at the end of each race this year; such a cute addition!!!🥰

Who else has signed up for all three races next year or plans to do at least 1?!?

Chicago Marathon 2026 ✅

Running still seems like a new hobby for me but somehow on Sunday, I ran my 3rd marathon, have two more lined up in the next 6 months, and completed @chidistanceseries for the 2nd year in a row. I was able to get my goal of sub 4:30 (around a 12 min PR, official time 4:24:34) with pretty consistent pacing after running hundreds of miles this summer and being disciplined🥰 Thank you to everyone who’s been rooting for me in person and virtually (and thanks for listening to me talk non-stop about running lol)

I’m so happy to have run @chimarathon again with Tom (this was his 5th marathon) despite him having a demanding residency schedule and us barely doing our long runs together. Running Chicago marathon will always be our love letter to this city; we adore this beautiful city and the people who make it so wonderful❤️

If you’ve ever thought about getting into running….this is your sign😉

Happy #MedalMonday part 2😂 this time showing off the back of the medal and the neighborhoods we ran through!!

sorry if you’ve been sick of the marathon content but more is to come LOL. I got our medals engraved today at @lululemon (Rush St in Chicago location) during lunch break. Shoutout to the kind owner of the engraving company who helped me get this done in a timely matter🥰😭 The free medal engraving is such a cute and meaningful service to provide runners and they do this at other locations too like @nike and @fpmovement usually only on the day after the marathon! So happy I got my sub 4:30 time engraved😭

Lululemon also takes 25% off your purchase when you show your medal for a limited time! They have some cute marathon merch this year; last year I used the discount on a tank top (that I wore this year during the race) and fleece lined leggings that I use for outdoor winter runs!!

Happy Medal Monday!!!!🏅Will make a longer sappier recap post later lol but for now, I just want to show off the gorgeous @chimarathon and @chidistanceseries medals!! And at the @bankofamerica booth at the post race party, they had patches that you could iron onto your medal ribbon and a Polaroid station, how cute!!! @chimarathon shakeout run with @runna this morning at Eleven City Diner!! Did a little 5k, met some new people, and was surprised at how much food there was at the end!! They had servers bringing out these cute little trays of pancakes and French toast too! They even gave us cute little bracelets and a mug🥹 the interior of Eleven City Diner is sooo cute too, gotta go one day and eat there for real bc I’ve only heard great things about it
