Can’t beat not stressing over your hose accidentally getting crushed.

Both the Vintner Reserve and the Vintner Lite are reinforced with a monofilament helix. This reinforced material helps maintain the shape of the hose when it’s under pressure. So, when the hose gets crushed, it can rebound. Please note that if you run it over with a forklift, it can bounce back, but it will still be deformed. It is also reinforced with a spiral-plied synthetic fabric.

15% OFF all lengths and sizes of our ContiTech hose assemblies! These include our Vintners Reserve, Vintners Lite, Brewers, and Distillers hose assemblies.

Discount code: hose15

All hose, except for the Distillers, have an EPDM lining that is ideal for high temperature processes and clean-in-place (CIP) applications. The Distillers hose uses a UHMWPE lining for its specific chemical and static-dissipating requirements.

We’ve also put together blogs and videos covering hose types, end connections, and sizing if you want to dig deeper before choosing a hose.

Our hose assembly consists of a bulk hose of your choice, a collar, and a barb clamp.

We use a crimping machine to crimp the collar around the barb clamp. The entire length of the external collar is crimped against the outside of the hose, securing the barb clamp in place.

Unlike a traditional clamped hose connection, the collar is crimped along the full length of the barb. This creates a more secure, sanitary connection with fewer areas where product or contaminants can become trapped. And unlike a clamp connection, the fitting can’t simply be pushed off of the hose under pressure.

The Vintner Reserve has a special mechanism that makes it a popular choice: a monofilament helix. What’s so great about that? This reinforced material helps maintain the shape of the hose when it’s under pressure. So, when the hose gets crushed, it can rebound. Please note that if you run it over with a forklift, it can bounce back, but it will still be deformed. It is also reinforced with a spiral-plied synthetic fabric. Although reinforced with tough rust-proof materials, it remains flexible.

- FDA/USDA compliant and 3-A Sanitary approved (Standard 18-03).

ContiTech recently celebrated its 30th anniversary of its Vintnerℱ beverage hose line.

The Vintner Lite is the lightweight version of the Reserve. The inner tube is slightly thinner, but it’s still reinforced with a monofilament helix (and spiral-plied synthetic fabric), preserving its ability to rebound under pressure. It’s ideal for applications requiring lower working pressures.

Let’s fight đŸ€ș

A lot of people blame the pump for oxygen pickup, but a pump simply moves what it receives.

If air is detected downstream of the pump, it has typically entered the line before the pump through suction-side leaks, poor suction conditions, inadequate purging, or product entrainment.

The discharge side of the pump is a high-pressure point, typically above atmospheric pressure so a damaged fitting or gasket there will result in liquid leaking out rather than air leaking in.

Check out our blog: “Pumps Don’t Introduce Oxygen.”

“I backflush it.”
“I CIP it.”
“It’s fine.”

CIP and backflushing are important, but they don’t replace periodic inspection.

Manual cleaning of the heat exchanger should be done when the heat exchanger is approximately 3 months old, and then subsequently once a year. The first inspection and cleaning after three months is to ensure that your CIP procedures are working correctly and that the heat exchanger is functioning as it should. After this, a yearly inspection should be sufficient.

Check the plates for debris, inspect the gaskets for damage or deterioration (they don’t last forever!), and look for scaling around the ports.

If you’re brave, check out our YouTube video:  “How to disassemble and reassemble a Plate Heat Exchanger.”

We’ve all seen a racking-arm blowout cause thousands of dollars of product to pour down the drain.

Standard Tri-Clamps are at risk of their gasket popping out or the ferrules becoming misaligned. Say, you have a Tri-Clamp on a racking arm of a full tank, and the gasket pops out. You will need to readjust the Tri-Clamp. What’s difficult about this is that you can’t easily readjust them due to the pressure buildup behind the Tri-Clamp. One wrong move, and you can cause a racking arm blowout. The proper fix would be to take the Tri-Clamp off completely to fix this, and you can’t do that with a full tank.

Swivel joints use a wider clamp design with a Teflon collar around the ferrules, allowing the connection to move while remaining clamped. That means you can adjust your racking arm or flow panel without fighting the connection. Think of it as cheap insurance against an expensive mess. Let’s take a look inside an explosion-proof motor!

You can find these motors in our explosion-proof pump assemblies at www.cpesystems.com.

Please note, that this was done for demonstration purposes on a damaged motor. Please do not perform disassembly on your explosion proof motors. You cannot safely or officially take it apart or modify certain parts of it unless an authorized shop does the work. If a certified flame path is disturbed, its compliance for explosion-prone environments has been compromised. by @cpesystems

Swipe to learn about what makes equipment safe for explosion-prone environments.

The pump’s electrical and ignition-capable components are what require hazardous-location consideration. The exact requirements depend on the location classification and the equipment’s certification.

We will only cover our explosion proof centrifugal pump assemblies, but we also carry an axial flow impeller pump called the high proof alcohol portable pump assembly.

An explosion-proof motor enclosure uses flame paths, tight joints between enclosure components. If an internal ignition occurs, these paths allow pressure and gases to escape while cooling the hot gases enough to prevent them from igniting the surrounding atmosphere.

The motor also must be certified/rated for the hazardous location, including the applicable class/division/group or zone and temperature requirements.

Since we use a starter instead of a variable frequency drive, these pumps are constant speed. VFDs are not rated for use in explosion-prone environments, as they are a spark risk. However, our high-proof alcohol pump is variable speed!

These pumps can be made variable speed by adding a VFD in a non-rated area and using an intrinsically safe remote control.

Electrical plugs can create an arc when they’re connected or disconnected under load. Hazardous-location plugs, we use large fiberglass plugs, are designed to prevent that arc from becoming an ignition source in the surrounding atmosphere. They can be designed with enclosed contacts and flameproof pathways that contain an arc and prevent ignition from reaching the surrounding atmosphere.

That’s why our explosion-proof pumps are shipped without a plug: the customer must install a plug that meets the requirements for their specific location and electrical code.

Instead of a standard plastic strain relief, we use a special epoxy-filled explosion-proof gland nut. The gland seals around the cable and, where required, around the individual conductors to prevent gases from travelling through the cable entry into the electrical enclosure.

For a portable pump in a hazardous location, the cable may need to be an approved extra-hard-usage flexible cord A portable explosion-proof centrifugal pump assembly in a warehouse with the text overlay, "what makes a pump explosion proof?" by @cpesystems

You should really know the differences between these two pumps... Swipe to find out!

Circumferential piston and rotary lobe pumps are often confused with each other. While both are a part of the same rotary positive displacement pump family, sharing similar operating principles and designs, there are several key differences between them.

One of the easiest ways to distinguish between the two pumps is the shape and construction of the rotors, particularly the large rotor hub found in circumferential piston pumps.

Tighter clearances can reduce internal slip, particularly when pumping lower-viscosity products. This means that circumferential piston pumps are the better option for dealing with products that are closer to the viscosity of water.

Circumferential piston pumps have a longer sealing path than lobe pumps. This reduces back slippage, making their dosing accuracy as high as 2-3%. The reduced pressure and velocity between the outer edge of the rotor and the chamber wall also prolongs the life of the pump and minimizes heat within the pump head.

Circumferential piston pumps have a heavier rotor, so their maximum RPM is lower, which means that for most applications, you can use a smaller lobe pump for the same job at a lower cost.

Have YOU ever seen inside a rotary lobe pump before?

Watch as the two non-contacting rotating lobes pass by each other at such a close proximity. External timing gears within the gearbox synchronize the rotors and maintain the proper clearance between the rotating components. This allows the rotors to rotate at the correct timing without coming into contact with each other.
