Join us on October 5th for our second Open Lecture, “Perspective Drawing: Local Murals and Public Art as Activation.” This panel examines the role of local and Indigenous art in activating public spaces. Paintings spatially focus on proximity to the ocean. Symbolically, the walls visually come to life to convey themes of resiliency, creativity, persistence, and resistance to private erasure. Artists will discuss how murals and graffiti preserve history, culture, and meaning in an overlooked, neglected plaza. Food and beverages provided after the panel. Recording will be available shortly after the event. taken in College of Environmental Design by @cppenv

A look back at the final day of the design-build workshop at the Lyle Center! 🌿☀️💧

The three-day workshop was hosted at the Lyle Center in partnership with Cal Poly Pomona’s Department of Landscape Architecture, led by Professor Rennie Tang and made possible through funding from the SPICE grant. During the workshop more than 100 students came out to participate.

Students also had the opportunity to work alongside visiting landscape architecture practitioners David Godshall and Kasey Toomey of TERREMOTO in Los Angeles, David Hill of HILLWORKS in Auburn, Alabama and François Vadepied and Mathieu Gontier of Wagon Landscaping in Paris, France.

We enjoyed getting to capture the final day. A big thank you to everyone who helped make the workshop possible!
