Cleveland Public Theatre's multi-week play development series, Test Flight, returns Feb. 18 through Mar. 27, 2027. This year, we’re continuing our innovative cohort model, where you’ll learn from and be inspired by fellow artists and experienced producers in a supportive environment. Whether you’re looking to refine your self-production skills or explore fresh ideas, Test Flight is the perfect launchpad for your creative journey.

WE'RE OPEN THIS WEEKEND! And you're invited to join us for "The Opening House: Immersive Performance and Open House
Inaugurating the Joan Yellen Horvitz Performance Gallery."

After years of planning and a year of construction, Cleveland Public Theatre reopens the former St. Mary’s Orthodox Church as the Joan Yellen Horvitz Performance Gallery with a free and open to the public CPT-style soft opening with two dates to choose from.

In addition to exploring the newly transformed space, guests get to experience a performance of "The Opening House" by CPT Executive Artistic Director Raymond Bobgan and Cleveland CORE Ensemble.

Admission is free; however, a $10 donation is encouraged. Tickets are required and can be reserved by clicking the link in our bio.

The Dark Room is back in session next Tues., Oct. 13 in the James Levin Theatre inside the main campus at 6415 Detroit.

This "open mic" series is open to all writers and performers, as well as audience members interested in cold readings of new scripts. The Dark Room provides new and experienced writers the opportunity to test drive their new play, novel, poem, or any other written material in a supportive, yet critical, environment. Playwrights may bring up to 10 pages of material and actors are cast on the spot. Sign-up begins at 6:45pm and readings begin at 7:30pm. For more info, check the link in our bio. by @cptcle

CPT seeks local dance companies for DanceWorks 2027!

DanceWorks offers an opportunity for emerging and established Northeast Ohio dance companies and choreographers to present world premiere works in a series with other local dance companies as an important part of Cleveland Public Theatre’s 2026-2027. The event aims to create a bold experimental playground for companies and choreographers. We seek to represent a diverse array of forms, genres, and aesthetic values. Performances should be comprised of at least 50% world premiere work. Pieces will be selected with special consideration to impact and quality.

Through a submission process, CPT is looking to select 3-6 local dance companies for a slot between February 8th and March 7th. Submissions are due by 5pm, Oct. 23, 2026. To apply, click the link in our bio. by @cptcle

Theatre for Public Good started in March 2024, when 5 values-aligned, multi-racial theatres (Cleveland Public, Company One, Crowded Fire, Mosaic, and Perseverance) formed a cohort around a shared question: as social justice theatres, what can we do together that we cannot do alone? ⁠

After two years of convening and a framework presented at the TCG National Conference in June 2026, 11 theatres met in Boston this September to begin launching a national movement.⁠
