I finished it!

The whole reason I did this was because I saw a ) @danielkaluuya interview yesterday ( he's the VO for Hobi )
I've never drawn him before and the man has undeniable swagger lol so fun to draw!

Can't wait to see Hobi in the next movie!

Frieren is a story that’s taking place in two genres. It’s like someone being forced by their nephews or nieces to go through their old photo album.

I cannot be the only one who watches Frieren with a sense of anxiety ( right?) it’s such a disarming show, that the action feels almost like it’s from a different show.

Because it is.

I don’t think Frieren is scary because she’s powerful, it’s her restraint now that highlights how much of a loose cannon she must have been the first time round. That version of her journey is probably only precious in retrospect.

but I can’t help but imagine how terrifying it must have been to see this staring at you from the sky.

I saw someone do this for a shot they had animated. I rarely do process posts of animations so wanted to try this out.

Here's a shot of my OC Illya. I find character acting really hard to do because unlike action it doesn't really tell you what needs to be conveyed.

I think the 'acting' part of character acting animation is something people often exaggerate because they don't know the character well enough. I guess that's a side effect of a lot of animators not being permanently on the team. But you can really tell when the animator knows how the character feels beyond just the action they're doing.

Illya is a sad person, and I am sad for her - She's had a hard life.I hope that reads in this even though it's not a lot of action.

Proper bleach fanart lol

TYBW has been awesome for Bleach. It's been like a whole life time of watching this show for me. Original tensasungetsu transformation is probably still my favorite in all of anime.

The most interesting thing about chainsaw man as a concept is that fear isn't actually what makes a devil stronger. It's more like people believe that it does but it's their reverence of the same belief is what makes devil's stronger.

the more you reflect on yourself and stare into the sum of your parts, the less control that reverence has over you.

This is the depth padd made in after effects.

It simulates volumetric light and lets you tweak the grey value of your image to isolate depth. This is inverted, the middle is typically darker when the scenes depth is focused in the center.

I've been experimenting with depth passes on compositing.

A lot of the animation you see these days aren't actually just animation, compositing contributes very heavily to the styling of the final work you see. After Effects and general procedural tools are quite essential to this work flow and I've been trying to understand them, most to see how I can work with with limited time and not compromise on quality too heavily.

I think in the era of ai-slop-armageddon it's pretty nice to actually learn new ways to improve your very human workflow.
