48 today.
Another lap round the sun.
Happy Birthday to me.
Maybe I’ll have adulting figured out by the time I’m 50.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minuteWith sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

I’ve noticed a lot of commentary lately about how ‘too polished’ a lot of music is sounding lately, what with all the amazing production tools we have available to us these days. Well, here’s a track I made a while back when I was much closer to the start of my music production journey. It’s loaded full of imperfections and decisions that I wouldn’t make now. But it remains a track that I’m really proud of. My favourite parts are the mistakes. I love its rawness and fragility, and the way it perfectly captures the way I was feeling when I wrote it.

Anyway, if you are interested in listening to the entire track you can find it on iTunes, Spotify, Bandcamp, or Soundcloud by searching for ‘My Black Dog’ by Cra5her.

478 Days Post Amp:
Today is International Day of Persons with Disability.

The Current UK Prime Minister, @borisjohnsonuk , just tweeted the following:-

“On #IDPWD2020 , I pay tribute to the extraordinary contribution people living with disabilities make to this country. Next year we will publish the most ambitious disability plan in a generation - so there are no barriers to anyone realising their full potential. “

Nice words Boris. If it’s anything like your Brexit or Covid response plan then we are all fucked.

Also, just curious, how many actual disabled people have been involved in devising your plan?

As a recently disabled man living in the UK who has been trying very hard to realise my full potential, I can tell you that you have A LOT of work to do Boris. Just getting a very basic prosthetic leg that will allow me to do even one tenth of the activities I want to do has been a ridiculous wrestling match with a system that feels very much stacked against me, and most certainly not there to help me reach my full potential.

Being disabled is hard enough. We shouldn’t have to fight to get the equipment and services we need.
