POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

1 year ago I headed to Shropshire for my first songwriting retreat… I had no idea what it would be like and I certainly didn’t expect to make such lasting friendships. An intense week of being open and creative and writing with each other seemed to deepen connections quickly and although we were a large group it felt so safe to share and just be.

@andreastolpeofficial is an absolute legend of songwriting and learning from her in person was really something special. @lumiayates is also amazing to learn from and has so much wisdom to share.

📷 The first 8 photos are by the lovely @andrew.b.carroll who captured so many beautiful moments during the week. The last photo is of me and my roomie for the week @dja.hane who is now part of my life forever 🥰

It won’t let me tag everyone in the photos 😢 but go and check out their music as they are all amazing 🥰

The second of three posts recommending music from June’s releases as well as recent discoveries & the occasional classic track revisited.

@ronniespiteri “It’s Gonna Be”
@jutesmusic “Sleepyhead”
@tomferrymusic & @jessballl “Standstill”
@tfp_devotion @iceninekills & @spencerink “Suffocate City”
@djpressed “I Have A Dream (Gay)” from 2023 recently discovered.
@cra5her “Everything You Know Is A Lie”
@noizusound “Vogue” from September’23 has a perfect summer vibe
@massiveegoofficial “In Your Own Darkness” (+ “In Your Own Darkness” - Night Version) it’s great to have @marcmassive & Co back in action. This has to be my single of the month! I absolutely love it, well done! I can’t wait to see what’s next 🖤
@paigekennedymusic “Lingerie Model” I love how the track’s title conjures up a totally different mental image to what we are given. A tongue in cheek poke at those misgendering or being confused if someone isn’t living up to the female societal expectations. I’m not sure if Paige is she/her or they/them & it’s really none of my business beyond getting correct terminology on this post. I have this song heavily featured on my current playlists though. Give it a good listen.

Two more posts to come so look out for more great music recommendations coming soon! #keepthemusicstrong

Someone asked me yesterday what practices I have to process and deal with stress.
.
My answer will be ever changing but this is what I have in place now.
.
This photo represents a time when I had to lean on others for help, which I don’t like doing. I try to be as self sufficient and capable as possible but some recent circumstances much greater than this swim event in a competition has left me more open.
.

“No journey leaves a soul unchanged.” I thought competition prepared me for life’s challenges, and maybe it did to an extent. the lessons i’ve learned along the way and especially over the past 2 years have brought a magnitude of knowledge to my life that i’m still sorting though.

I hold tokens of victory earned in unfavorable ways.

with normal day to day stresses i workout or hike, i get back to nature where i can be free. i walk, which is rhythmic for my brain (similar to emdr). i’m quite meaning i go long periods of time without input/music/talking and let my brain process. i protect my energy from energy vampires who suck up my light and time. i protect sleep and nutrition. i try not to burn out.

since my daughter passed away i’ve really dove into what’s important and cut the rest out even negative conversation and harsh music. I don’t give my time freely. i get sun, specifically on my face. i write. i clear energy with some of my which friends (real talk though). i do breath work and i keep my home space and office organized. i let people help, which is new for me.
.
I couldn’t do this life without those who have walked beside me.
