The magical thing about teaching and practicing yoga is that no pose ever has to look a certain type of way. Navigating by feeling is the *spoiler alert* secret to understanding alignment. Move, live, and be in your body in a way that feels authentic to you always! taken in Performance Lab by @crackyoga

Balance is a tricky thing and it doesn’t look the same for everyone. It’s a spectrum based on trust and negotiation.

When teaching yoga in a group setting, the first thing I cue are the extremes. Press down and lift up. Reach forward as you press back. But the work that matters most for anyone’s personal practice is being sensitive to the nuance and subtleties between those two points. That’s where the deep inner magic and learning happens.

In every yoga pose, and in life, we all have areas where we need to challenge ourselves to work harder and we all have places where we need to trust that it is ok to do less. And that will look different for everyone. The hardest (and most confusing) thing about strength, is that it’s not always about just muscling through it, or pushing towards a goal. Oftentimes, strength means having the courage to trust yourself, the work, and let go. taken in Montauk, New York by @crackyoga

Returning to reliable shapes may offer a sense of comfort in the familiarity, but can also be, to quote Forrest Gump, ‘Like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get’. A shape anatomically identical to a previous practice on the outside may be a drastically different experience for a multitude of ‘life’ reasons on the inside. And that’s ok. That’s the beauty of even having a practice at all. Showing up for yourself with sensitivity and vulnerability while continuing to breathe no matter what comes up, is the true strength of any practice. taken in Long Island City by @crackyoga
