When you are in charge, are you leading or overleading?

It rarely feels like control from the inside. It feels like responsibility. The project grows, the stakes rise, and the grip tightens, one more check-in, one more decision you keep for yourself.

John Frame @jframinator names the cost. The tighter the grip, the less people tell you. The honest, inconvenient, sometimes deeply personal information a leader needs only comes when people trust you to hold it well.

So here is the question worth sitting with: what are the people around you not telling you right now?

From Let Go & Lead with Jessica Dawson @thecoachjd and Dr. Lawrence Henderson @bossllab .

DC was too good to fit in one post.

So here is part two.

The dinners. The boat ride. The conversations that did not end when the room cleared. The moments that only happen when we step out of the screen and into the same space.

This is what community looks like beyond the call. Beyond the agenda. Beyond the calendar invite.

It looks like people showing up as themselves and finding out they are not alone.

Swipe to see what we mean.

Washington DC. The vibe is already here.

The DC Connect kicked off with a welcome brunch, dinner, and the kind of organic connections that only happen when we are in the same room. Reunions. New faces. The tribe showing up exactly as they are.

This is what we mean when we say community is not just something we talk about. It is something we live.

And we are just getting started. Looking forward to the rest of the conference, the festivities, and everything still to come.

The water. The skyline. The tribe.

Last year, we took the tribe out on the water in San Diego. People talked about it for months. The music. The food. The way the city looked from the water as the sun went down. It was not just an activity. It was a memory that stayed.

This year, we are doing it again. In Washington DC.

Thursday, October 29
Meet at 5:30 PM | Departure at 6 PM
Be You Charters Lounge | 650 Wharf Street SW

Food. Drinks. Good company. And the kind of evening that reminds you why this community matters.

$150 per person. Registration and prepayment required.

Three members of this community are speaking at ICF Converge. We are honored to spotlight them.

Ellen Wagner is the VP of Membership for ICF New Jersey. She is bringing a session on accessibility embedded at every coaching stage. @the_ellen_wagner

Sophia Casey, MCC is a Master Certified Coach and a force in coach education. She is leading a conversation on trends, tensions, and what is next. @coachsophiacasey

Veronica “Ronnie” Soria, ACC is a veteran and a dedicated DEIB practitioner. She is speaking on the unseen labor of BIPOC coaches. @msveeva

These are not just sessions. They are the conversations this profession needs, and they are coming from our people.

If you are at Converge, be in the room. Let them feel the community behind them.

Swipe to see where they will be.

Washington DC is next week. The room is almost full.

We are bringing the tribe to the capital for three days of real connection. Dinners, brunch, a boat ride, and space to be with people who understand the work.

This is the kind of gathering that reminds you why you chose this community in the first place.

Whether you are attending ICF Converge or just pulling up to be with your people, this is your invitation.

Members receive 50% off registration.

This is community in action.

Myra Herring @capribrand , co-founder of Craft of Coaching, pulled up to support C.O.C. member and Council member Danelle Brister @danelle.live at her event, Your Wardrobe Is Your Business Card.

That is what this tribe does. We show up. We support. We celebrate each other in real life.

And this is bigger than just showing up. Our members are building. They are hosting. They are creating spaces that bring value into the world. When one of us steps into something new, we are in the room.

Because that is who we are.

If you are part of this community and you get together with a fellow member, we want to see it. Share your photos. Share your stories. Show us what community looks like in your corner of the world.

Tag us or drop a photo below. Let’s celebrate the moments that happen beyond the screen.

Something shifts when the screen disappears.

Last night, the Atlanta tribe came together. Not for a session. Not for a workshop. Just to be in the room.

We ate. We laughed. We talked about what we are grateful for in this season. What we are giving. What we are needing. And then, without being asked, people showed up for each other.

That is the thing about this community. It is not built on programming. It is built on presence. It is built on people who understand the work and choose to hold space for one another anyway.

This is what happens beyond the screen. This is what we mean when we say community.

You have seen her name. You have received her emails. You have watched her keep things moving behind the scenes.

Feven has been the steady hand holding so much of this community together. Now her title matches the work.

She is stepping into a new role as our Operations & Community Manager.

She handles the details that make this space run. The emails. The platforms. The logistics. The follow-through. It is not always visible. It is always essential.

Feven is part of the heartbeat of this tribe. Today, we celebrate her.

Sherylle Bates does not consider herself technical. She considers herself a problem solver.

She builds agentic AI teams for small businesses. Not because she loves the tech. Because she loves removing friction.

Here is what she wants coaches to know.

The barrier is not technical. It never was. The barrier is not knowing where your work slows down. Where you lose time. Where you are still carrying what something else could hold.

AI can level the field. But it can only solve what you can name.

The most important AI skill has nothing to do with AI.

Drop a word below on how AI is helping you with your business.

C.O.C. started as a vision. We did not know what it would become.

We did not have the full picture. We just kept showing up. We kept holding space. And over time, it became something real.

Myra Herring @capribrand is a co-founder of Craft of Coaching and the Chair of the C.O.C. Council. She has been part of this journey from the beginning. Through the uncertainty, the growth, and everything in between.

This is what community does. It steadies you. It sharpens you. It reminds you why you chose this work in the first place.

Let Go and Lead is hosted by Dr. Lawrence Henderson @bossllab and Jessica Dawson @thecoachjd . New episode out now, featuring Myra Herring.
