Hey, this book might be interesting! The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is hosting a book talk with Paul Kingsbury, Brenda Colladay and me on Saturday, Feb 7 at 2:30 pm. Book signing afterwards. Come ask us a question and check out the new Opry exhibit while you're there.

Thank you @showing_roots roots for the opportunity and introduction to a new favorite city... Belfast!

While some music conferences feel overwhelming (trust me!!), this one is small but mighty for making connections. In the afternoons, I joined a panel about how to pitch music journalists, moderated a discussion about @opry 100 (welcomed by the Lord Mayor of Belfast!), and led a conversation with the incomparable Amy Grant, which I could have never envisioned as a church kid in the '80s.

After hours I enjoyed international showcases, a concert with folk singers I was pleased to discover -- @davidkeenanmuso and @lorrainenashmusic -- and shared convivial meals with new and old friends alike. All that and Irish pubs too!

Of course the recovered fiddle in the Titanic Museum got me emotional, as did a Blue Taxi driving tour with @chris_barilla that immersed us in the complicated history of The Troubles in Northern Ireland. I'll never forget that.

Travel is such a gift and so is finding a music community so far from home. I am feeling fortunate today. #yourrootsareshowing taken in Belfast, Northern Ireland, UK by @craigshelburne

A run in all 50 states? ✅️ + a few snaps from the last 20 years, including my first half in 2005!

(My 50th run state in my 50th year! And in my namesake town!)

Some of the races were full marathons, a few triathlons including a Half Iron in Florida, a leisurely 5k in Milwaukee (recovering from an injury), a wonderful trail run in woodsy Washington that ended by jumping in a lake, the famous Hood to Coast relay in Oregon and *a lot* of half marathons all over America. In Oklahoma City, we took shelter in a parking garage until the tornado warning passed, and then ran the race. Toward the end of this journey, I looked for 10ks .... a perfect distance!

It means more than I can say to take part in the @sofestofbooks because I have rarely missed one since I have lived in Nashville! So, please join @becolladay @amstefano988 and me for a panel discussion about @opry 💯 on Sat, Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. at the @tnstatemuseum followed by a book signing with many other authors. Here is a day I will never forget. (4/15/25)

Making my first appearance on the Grand Ole Opry....

Smiling so much in those moments afterward...

Walking into Target that day and seeing this book...

Signing copies for friends and strangers...

Sharing it all with my parents who came in just for this...

And feeling grateful for the people who took these pics (@kandidwbree & @hbpr2018) as I achieved something I never even allowed myself to dream.

This book took us 18 months to put together. It is the hardest thing I have ever done, as well as the most rewarding, and I certainly didn't do it alone. At 100 years old, the @opry has many more stories to tell. I am beyond thankful to be able to tell this one.

My first book! Thank you to @wsmradio and @opry for the support and the opportunity!

It's been two years coming, although I waited to post anything until I could hold the book in my hand. And today I can ... and so can you! It is called '100 Years of Grand Ole Opry.' What a milestone!!

I will be making a special guest appearance on the Opry tonight (!!!!!!!) and signing at intermission in the gift shop. [The black cover is a Target exclusive.] They are both beautifully designed, and it has been the privilege of a lifetime to see this book take shape and to share this significant undertaking with @becolladay @emilyfrans @oprydan @jenntressler & Tim Davis (@timmyd4unme), and the generous members who let me ask all the questions about their path to the Opry. My own journey started in a small town in Nebraska in 1990, when country music pulled me in and never let me go. Writing this book is an experience I will carry with me forever.

A few pics in Bristol TN/VA and on the way to MerleFest! Bristol is a special place and the new exhibit at the Birthplace of Country Music is so well done! Thanks to @charlenetbaker for the alley photo and the pic with Chef T and all the hospitality.

Feels good to be back at MerleFest too. Back in my CMT days, I attended when Doc Watson was still performing and he made such an impression on me. I have always wanted to see that statue of him in Boone NC and today was the day! taken in East Tennessee by @craigshelburne
