Meet Ange, our Head of Production. She brings ideas to life through the people, planning and creative decisions behind every shoot.

Last week, our Co-founder @siba_nxumalo sat down with Dr. Jehovanis Manirakomeye @ingabohopecore for a fireside chat on building solutions that matter, opening the Future Makers Hackathon at @wsh_kigali .The session was moderated by WSH Country Director Albert Mugisha.

The conversation centred on a principle we hold close at TORI: before you build, understand the people you’re building for. Good ideas come from real problems, and the strongest solutions are tested, adapted and communicated in ways people can trust.

Rooting for every team on the road to incubation 💙

Thank you to WSH Kigali for having us, and to @united_internet_for_unicef for making the programme possible. by @createwithtori_

In Soil & Water: Kigali Crossing, artist Io Makandal (@iomakandal) works with soil and land art, using bokashi mud balls to help clean up Nyandungu’s waterways and bring the wetland back to health. Her soil chromatograms look a lot like the human iris, which makes it easy to see ourselves in the earth and harder to ignore that caring for it is up to us.

Soil & Water: Kigali Crossing is on at Nyandungu Eco-Park until 31 March 2027.

Events bring people together and give them memories that last.

Meet Guy Hedderwick, Managing Director of QA Venue Solutions in Rwanda and the newly elected Chair of the IAVM Stadiums Committee.

For Guy, a venue earns its place through the jobs it creates and the local businesses and communities that grow around it.

He works by a simple mantra. Meaningful, courageous, and now.

Here’s what five years of venue development in Rwanda looks like.

20,000+ job opportunities
462 local vendors
4 new hotels

And a growing pipeline of venue professionals across Africa.

Africa’s biggest challenges could also be its biggest opportunities.

@elihabimana shares how Norrsken approaches entrepreneurship by supporting founders who use technology to tackle problems across healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, and regional integration. But building solutions at this scale takes more than good ideas. It takes a community where entrepreneurs, funders, and other stakeholders can connect and work together.

How do you make room for all your passions without losing yourself in the process?

@bobmugaba reflects on the challenge of balancing multiple creative pursuits, from music production to visual art, and why it takes more than a perfectly planned schedule. Sometimes, it’s less about managing your time and more about understanding your energy, knowing what you can give, and making the most of it.

US-based artist Olu Oguibe (@oluoguibe) is continuing his collaboration with the Nirox Foundation, looking at what public art can do for a landscape in recovery and for the people who spend time in it.

For Soil & Water: Kigali Crossing, Olu Oguibe took his cues from the park's staff and the environment around them. His work moves art out of the gallery and into a public park, where anyone in the city can walk up to it, spend time with it and maybe leave with their spirits lifted.

Soil & Water: Kigali Crossing is on at Nyandungu Eco-Park until March 2027.

How do you differenciate value from compensation?

That was the thread running through the Q&A, and it’s where our Creative Clinique with @inziracreative got real. After @dolph_banza took us through his journey, creatives in the room asked about taking on projects for strategic reasons, reinventing yourself through change, and keeping clients happy without losing your craft.

What stayed with us is that a project can pay little and still be worth a lot, whether through exposure or a network you couldn’t reach before. And good advice only becomes yours once you test it in your own work. The best part was watching people get comfortable enough to ask, then leave ready to find their own answers.

Are we building businesses, or just copying what already works?

@sarahprincess22 reflects on the copy-paste approach to entrepreneurship, and why building something sustainable starts with understanding the market you’re actually in. For her, proper market research is the foundation. Without it, everything built on top is already at risk.

What kind of creator are you actually trying to become?

That question opened the Discovery Session at our Creative Clinique at @inziracreative, a workshop built around one idea: a sustainable creative career takes more than views.

Through storytelling and honest reflection, every creative in the room worked through where they actually want to go, not just what to post next, so they could leave with real direction, not just inspiration to sit with.

Grateful to everyone who leaned in and did the work, and to Inzira for opening up their space and community for this one.
