I can't believe it was ten years ago this month that I took the leap into self employment. I couldn't have done it without people (mostly women) believing in me, mentoring me and coming to my workshops. I always aim to empower people by connecting them to their innate creativity. I create safe spaces for people to explore & play. But the reality is that the world isn't a safe place for everyone and violence against women & girls is alarmingly common. I wanted to do something to support women in my community so I'm raffling three of my beautifully hand crafted artworks with all proceeds going to Women's Aid Fermanagh.

To win click on the link in my bio or in my stories and make a donation of any amount. Add the comment FEATHER, FERN or SHELL to be entered into the draw for the artwork you would like to win. Thank you so much for helping me highlight this issue and support other women. Together we can make a difference.

We had a lovely afternoon on Saturday collecting seed heads and fallen leaves at @marblearchcaves with Victor guiding us. He found a Dorbeetle who was thankfully only playing dead and soon scuttle away with it's beautiful purple underside hidden.
Back at the visitor centre for a cuppa & snacks and some beautiful weaving.
Just one of many events offered by @cuilcaghlakelands geopark. Check out their website or sign up for emails to hear about the latest events.
Many thanks to the creative participants, Victor and all the staff at the caves for collaborating with me as a Geopark Ambassador on this event. As promised the sun did indeed shine! 😉🌞

Now that the butterflies are finished with the mint flowers I'm harvesting them to dry for tea. I had a lovely blend with rose which I finished the other day so I decided to try blending my own. I've been harvesting sage, mint & nettle from my garden for years, drying in a closed paper bag and storing in kilner jars for winter use but I never tried a blend before.

I get hops, rose petals and oat straw from @thewildirishsage who also do lovely loose tea blends. So I raided the cupboard and made a mix of rose, oatstraw, hops, mint, nettle and a little bit of lavender.
I tried enough for one cup in my wee tea strainer before blending a whole carful and it tasted pretty good. It's comforting with a hint of freshness from the mint. It will be my go to mid morning or mid afternoon cuppa.

The stems from the mint are going to dry and then I'll try them as a smudging stick. I'm experimenting with more native plants rather than using white sage. taken in Crafting Your Soul by @creatinghealing

We had so much fun yesterday at @cavan_burren_park
foraging for flowers and fruit to extract pigments for painting. We also made our own brushes from sticks and grasses, heather & pine branches which we agreed looked like fairy brushes! Participants said it was relaxing, grounding and surprising and were amazed at the range of colours we got by adding lemon juice and bicarb. Many took pigments home to experiment in their sketchbooks.

It was my first workshop for a while as an ambassador for @cuilcaghlakelands and so enjoyable to provide eco friendly creative opportunities. I have another one on September 19th, Natural Weaving where we will forage at @marblearchcaves and weave into circular looms. Look out for posts advertising that one if it sounds like something you would like. 😊

PS. I know you don't do PS on here but I'm old school so...if you hear me repeatedly saying 'Tumble Dryer' it's because we were discussing ph neutral water to mix with the flowers or leaves to create the pigments (acidic or alkaline water/soft or hard water will alter the colour) and no one was listening to me saying the the water collected in your tumpble dryer is pure H2O and free and PH neutral! 😂

A creative play day for me (while I wait for some card pieces to glue flattened under books - that's for another reel)

New heavy body acrylics delivered today let me try printing with this bunch of ash keys I found weeks ago when walking near my house. I was dreaming of rich colours & hints of gold and bronze which I eventually got with an underlayer of metallic paint on gray blue fabric printed over with black & blue.

I'm printing on fabric so that I can try some free motion embroidery with my new machine.
All 6 are drying outside now that this morning's much needed heavy rain has cleared away.

Lots of paper experiments too for drawing over & collaging. 😊 by @creatinghealing

I've been spending Monday's over the last 6 weeks in the lovely company of the residents of Brownhill Fold in Irvinestown making stuff, just for fun. 😊
They did some beautiful circular weaving, felted landscapes and printed with leaves. Here are the highlights.

Just for fun we used some of the leaves & flowers to make nature self portraits. 😍 🍃🍂🏵🌸
I love them!

Tonight is the full moon. I can never remember all the details of which moon it is & the significance of the other planets but I know what calls to me. There are plenty of astrologers who can tell you about those things. My part is to say - follow your heart. Do what feels good and be kind to yourself.

I just collected my haul from @muddyfingersmcgurn
and I am so chuffed with my wonky pots. Been wanting to try throwing on the wheel for years and finally got the chance thanks to a lovely present from my hubby. I thoroughly recommend Anna McGurn's classes. Fun & relaxed with great instruction and encouragement. taken in Kesh, County Fermanagh by @creatinghealing
