It's time for the next #LDNCreativeAI Meetup hosted by @elluba 😍

On the 30th September, we will have the following line-up:

👁️‍🗨️ My dear friend Sander Dieleman from Google DeepMind will prepare a special talk for us on multimodal generative models. Sander has been a key supporter (and previous speaker!) of the meetup since 2016 and we are excited to see a preview of what could become his next blog post on sander.ai 👀

💃Dr Jafar Sabbah from the Institute for Creativity & AI will present his paper on 'The Human–GenAI Tango in Generating Creative Ideas', which compares human-only ideation with unstructured GenAI use, conventional GenAI seeding and transformational-creativity seeding. This project was recently awarded Best Paper at The Academy of Management 2026 Annual Meeting.

🖼️ @melissayunzhi will talk about her 'Master in Training' project, a four-screen still life installation that repeatedly translates itself through machine vision, text, image generation and online image retrieval. I was lucky enough to exhibit this project at CVPR Art Gallery earlier this summer and now it's coming to the meetup :)

The views from @adobeUK London are top 🔥

I was thrilled when Laura Herman was able to secure us this space as the venue for my latest #LDNCreativeAI meetup.

We heard from:

🖼️ Aaron Hertzmann (@aaronhertzmann) from Adobe (@adobe) who visited us from the US to talk about Per-Fixation Perspective in Art and Photography

♟️Vivek Veeriah from Google DeepMind (@googledeepmind) presented on generating creative chess puzzles, a paper from the NeurIPS Creative AI track that I co-organised last year.

🎥 Gabriela Tropia (@gabrielatropia @csm_news) showed us part of her film 'Organising Principles of Experience' and talked about digital necromancy.

Thanks to all those who attended and to @laura.herman and @adobeuk for hosting and providing pizza.

The next Creative AI meetup will be on 13th May at Adobe 😍

We have another exciting line-up:

🖼️ Aaron Hertzmann @aaronhertzmann , Principal Scientist at Adobe Research on 'Per-Fixation Perspective in Art and Photography'. Aaron proposes a new approach to understanding how human vision interprets 3D shape in realistic pictures, specifically focusing on perspective. He's also visiting us from the US 😀

♟️Vivek Veeriah @vivek.veeriah, Research Scientist at Google DeepMind on 'Generating Creative Chess Puzzles'. The paper introduces a reinforcement learning framework with novel rewards designed to enhance a chess puzzle's uniqueness, counter-intuitiveness, diversity, and realism. This paper was part of the NeurIPS Creative AI track last December that I co-organised.

🎥Gabriela Tropia @gabrielatropia, Artist-Filmmaker and Educator on 'AI, film and digital necromancy'. Gabi will present an extract from her award-winning AI film 'Organising Principles of Experience' and will explore choreography and directing performance in AI generated videos.

My latest Creative AI meetup took place on Wednesday at Central St Martins. Some people said it was the best one yet 😅. While I can't pick favourites, we did have some pretty cool talks:

🦎 William Latham @williamlathamart (Goldsmiths, University of London) and Dylan Banarse (Google DeepMind) presented their collaboration on using Gemini to drive and steer the evolution of William Latham and Professor Stephen Todd's organic art.

👾 Jenn Leung @jennnital shared her work on Assembloid Agency, first presented at NeurIPS Creative AI Track 2025. Jenn is building playable environments where living neurons, grown on microelectrode arrays, can sense, learn, and respond in real time. We even got to hear them making music 🎵

🎥 📹 Aaron Jones @aaron_benjamin_jones introduced real-time autoregressive video generation using interactive world models and shared insights from building production-grade video systems that prioritize human-like interaction and empathy. We loved the demo with the dragon becoming a cat 🐉🐱

This looks like a happy robot to me 😍

I hosted @masaru_mizuochi's 'Struggle of Seeds' robot installation and panel discussion at @arebyte on Wednesday, a culmination of the artist's year-long residency at @ual_cci before he returns to Japan 😭🇯🇵

Having seen the original robot performance in Wimbledon in December 2025, I was keen to bring the robot installation into a gallery setting and arebyte couldn't have been a better fit (what with the @auriea.harvey.studio show next door 👀).

We were also lucky to have the choreographer/performer @sylvia.phd and the roboticist @romarioakiki with us for a short panel after the screening, sharing their contributions to the project and multicultural perspectives on robots and choreographies.

My next Creative AI meetup is on 4th March, this time at @csm_news 💃

I'll be hosting the following speakers:

👾 Jenn Leung @jennnital (University of the Arts London) will talk about using Unreal Engine to build playable environments where living neurons can sense, learn, and respond in real time. A project from my NeurIPS Creative AI track 😄

📹 Aaron Jones @aaron_benjamin_jones (Videostack.ai) will share insights from building and scaling production-grade video systems that prioritize human-like interaction and empathy.

Before and after the talks we will also screen films made by CSM students and alumni as part of their first AI Film Jam.

The first Creative AI meetup of 2026 is done ✅

The room was packed and we had some fun presentations that to me demonstrate what creative AI is genuinely about - not just video generation and editing tools, but also creative interpretations of research and technology that can involve rotting apples, hybrid installations and lock-picking.

For this edition we heard from:

🍏 researcher masaru mizuochi about Green Diffusion, an art project that draws parallels between the natural decomposition of an apple and the diffusion process. One of the three winners from my CVPR 2025 gallery, btw :)

👾 artist Xinde Ren who gave us a walkthrough of her hybrid way of working with AI to include own datasets, carefully thought-out installation options and physical objects.

🔐 engineer Etienne Naude who presented a lock-picking robot that he developed and gave us some security and lock-picking tips.
